So it ionizes water and/or waste particles?
Not much detail on the science behind it. This would most likely work on the Ca and Mg in the salt, not the water itself? Wouldn't that form hydroxides and increase pH?

This appears to be electro-chemical flocculation. It involves actual particles, including bacteria, that get charged and then flocculate, either floating, sinking or attaching to other stuff....like calcium carbonate. I'm familiar with chemical flocculants, (and I know API has some product that I can't remember for freshwater), but this is the first I've seen electricity used to charge the particles causing them to clump.

EDIT TO ADD: Just looked up the API product and it's called Accu-Clear, but I believe it's for freshwater only.
