here isnt much and it doesnt seem like hair algae. I tried to suck out as much as I could but this little bit still stays. Anyone know what it is, or what removes it?
I checked out the sea hare in tbone's sump. Really cool creature. What do you feed it when there's no hair algae left? I have hair algae but it is red in colour. My snails for some reason dont touch it, I was thinking of getting a sea hare.
Gogol, to me it sounds like you have a cyanobacteria problem…not hair algae. Check Alk and pH, increase flow, make sure skimmer is working fine, do water changes and watch your feeding. It most likely is a nutrient problem. I think the only think that might touch cyano are turbo’s….and that’s a big IF.
You may want to check your nitrate and phosphate levels also raising you magnesium will help I would definitly take the advice of getting a sea hare , mexican turbos will keep it under control also. Do you have a refugium ?
have refugium, have 4 mexican turbos. I will check my water parameters and let you know. The only feeding I do is 1 tbsp of oyster feed/week when the lights are out. Dont have skimmer yet. Waiting on the tax return to get an HOB octopus BH-100.
I just got new lights [MH + T5 actinic] and replaced my PC. Do you think they might help in reducing the cyanobacteria issue?
after check and control the phos level, the best way to get it out is to remove as-much-as possible by syphon or by hand. the snails will control future outbreaks. This is what has aways worked for me GOODLUCK
