AriMiko's 300DD Upgrade

Ari, looks fantastic! I really like the clean look of you sump....nice looking manifold and plumbing. My only suggestion would be to switch out the metal hose clamps and metal pipe clamps with plastic. Both are readily available.

awesome work ari. would love to check it out in person when you get that bad boy packed with corals.

Fantastic job beautiful plumbing.

Thank you, I will try and switch out the clamps. I have been having a tough time finding plastic ones. Home Depot doesn't have them.

Quick update.... Tank is currently cycled and I added a few fish from my holding tanks. I added my longnose hawk, purple firefish and 2 clownfish. I also did some more work in the sump area with the wiring. Here are a few more aquascape shots.

Plastic hose clamps have to come from any number of on-line places or at your LFS.

Update time...I have light and fish

I added a Marinepure BioBlock to my sump which is the 8" x 8" x 4" model, supposedly it has 23,000 Sq ft of surface area. I don't know how that is possible but I decided to give it a shot lol

I built a box to cover my diy led/t5 lighting system out of stainless steel look alike formica and painted the inside white. This will be suspended from the ceiling above the tank.

Here is the lighting system which consist of 60 royal blues, 36 cool whites, 20 blues, 4 neutral whites, 2 greens and 2 reds. All leds are the cree 3 watt leds which total out at 120 leds. I also added two 60" T5's , 1 Aquablue, 1 Figi purple and two 48" T5's which are the blue plus.

I now have the light fixture mounted above the tank and powered up. I have not put the T5 bulbs in yet.

I also added a few fish, a nice school of Chromis....

I took some better pictures with my dslr instead of the iphone lol. The last pictures I posted of the tank I didn't realize I did not have all LEDs on and it was giving a rainbow effect. Here are some new pics with all LEDs lit and the T5's along with some fish shots.

Just set up my MTC Pro Cal reactor. I'm going to let it run for a few days with no co2 injection to get all the air out. I transferred some corals but didn't go to crazy. I am thinking of adding some more rock behind the current aquascape to give the fish more areas to hide and sleep. Whatever rock I add will not be viewable from the front so it will keep the front view the same.

Have you run t5 and led before. I just bought hydra upgrades from my sols for the additional spectrum. There going to go over my current 75 which will be turning into a 120 peninsula over the next few months. I was thinking of build a canopy like yours so I maintain the open look and so I could add a few t5 tubes also as Iv seen som really nice tanks Thant run both.

Yes, I have been running both for a while. I love it, growth and colors are great. I just sometimes shut them down in the summer on hot days for heat issues.

Here is a important update I would like to share with everyone. My wife is pregnant and we are expecting our first child in November. I am currently scheduled to host the November meeting but unfortunately I have to cancel it till a later date. I am hoping to be on the schedule for the first north meeting of 2015. On the good note, it will give me more time to stock the tank up with coral and fish before the baby comes because after that its over lol
