Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
TRT is extending an offer to increase the presence of local reef clubs on their site.
Is there any interest from NJRC??

I agree.
Don't add anything you can't test for.
Adding a couple of crabs might be helpful but water changes to reduce the pollutants is the best strategy. ;)
They look like two Korilias meshed together. ::)
If the price is reasonable they might be an alternative to Tunze or Vortech.
Although the customer care and follow up by the aforementioned companies is superb.
I use Carib Sea Mud in a refugium setup from an old Wet Dry filter.
The biggest problem is silt which can get into the sump and tank, I solved this by adding a small skimmer to the outflow section of the fuge.
In retrospect I don't think that mud versus sand is that big of a concern.
Proper...
If you are increasing the wattage of your MH bulbs the chiller will be needed.
T5's are lower wattage and much less heat so a fan will be enough to cool down tank.
Just another suggestion.
Is your "fuge" also the sump or are they separate??
I run carbon and GFO in separate reactors but both can be run in one reactor, just understand that GFO works better at low flow rates, about 60-100GPH.
If your sump is separate from fuge run the media in the sump.
I use a small skimmer on...
Sorry to hear about your losses but green brittle stars do have that tendency.
Technically they are "reef safe" because they don't eat corals, just fish they can catch at night.
Best to remove it you want rock perching or slow moving fish like mandarins.
Good flow is needed to keep detritus off rock and decrease nuisance algae.
You can get 2 Maxijet900's with 2 EcoMods to increase flow to 1000GPH each.
I would position them into the rock work at opposite ends, you can then use Korilia 2's close to surface.
Cost: Maxijet 900's 30.00 x 2 = 60.00...
I got one from D&T aquarium supplies, cost 30 bucks but took 6 weeks to arrive.
Works well easier to assemble and so far no leaks after 2 months of use, I'm running carbon in mine.
I did notice the price has gone up 10-15 bucks since I bought it.
No Tierra Anthias are different in coloration, easier to acclimate to tank, they are very docile.
I had them but my evil damsels and black clowns harassed them to death in my 125 FOWLR. >:(
ASM is a better designed skimmer than the Coralife.
I agree w/ reeferwanabe and mott768, skimmer and lights are the two things you should not be cheap with in this hobby.
