Algae scrubber

Surprised a bristle made it through the pump in one piece.

I just pulled my scrubber out of my tank and trying to go back to pure chaeto again now that I have the algae outbreak in my display finally back under control. (silly yellow assessor died inside of a rock I had to crack open to find his rotting corpse)

Scrubber sure did grow all sorts of crazy things though. Must have seen more pods in the container than I could ever count. Too bad they almost always got thrown away with the harvest though

Algae scrubber growth about two weeks growth.


I leave some growth on the screen to reduce a the chance of phosphates rising before it catches back up.

The algae scrubber is backbone of my nutrient removal system in the tank. I cannot imagine running this tank without it.

Yea I have 2 of them...both being unused (one literally brand new), one likely to be attempted again on my next tank.
It was just honestly too messy with my current space limitations. If I could have a larger sump space it would be much easier to maintain than my current configuration.
