Goin' on the Road

Hey Mike!

I'm home and getting caught up.

Cindy had knee surgery this week so with work, doctoring and the holiday I've not been on the boards.

I have over a 1000 pictures from the trip to sort through. When I get a chance I'll post a few.

Today was my first real reef day since I returned. Did filter maintenance and water changes on four tanks today!

It was a great trip and it has inspired me to put a little more effort into my religious studies, so I expect my post count will be dropping a bit.

Hey Bill,

Good and Bad to hear. Good that you had a good time and bad that you'll be spending less time here. More good than bad I guess.

Didn't know if you missed your plane or something.

See you soon.

Thanks Brian!

Mike, a lot of what we saw was built during the time of Roman occupation.

Very nice pictures, Bill! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Yeah Bill you can tell .. alot of the structures are very similar. What you don't see in Rome, however, is the gold still left in the structures. Well after the Roman Empire fell there was alot of theft. They even choped away at the concrete of the structures to steal the iron supporting rods inside.

Evertime I go to Rome I take a different tour and I learn different things. Now that I'm in this hobby though I may be taking different vacatoins ... to some islands next.

Spectacular photos. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Did you get goosebumps when visiting some of the sites? (Sorry if that's a too much of a personal question)

Another question, how come one of the churches has a cross in it, but the sign says "Shalom"?

Thanks Wendy,

Not too personal, YES I DID! :D This was a pilgrimage for me, I am clergy.

The sign says peace in English, Arabic and Hebrew; the three local languages.

Churches are just as much a tourist attraction as they are a place of worship in Israel. And the local Christians, although a tiny minority, do speak Hebrew and Arabic.

BTW that was the church Dominus Flevit on the Mount of Olives.

A few more!

Thank you so much for answering and for sharing more magnificent photos. I get chills by looking at those pictures, and am certain I'd have an emotional meltdown if I were there personally. :-[
