I have these, but like many of my Zoas, started shrinking a bit.
I really need to get the Low Nitrates Hanna Checker and figure out what is going on with these guys.

I dose nitrates between 20-30 and keep phosphates between .1 - .25

I just started to dose potassium nitrate tonight. My nitrates have been at 0 so I figured I would try dosing 25 ml a day of a potassium nitrate solution. Hopefully I don’t hurt anything. My phosphates have been pretty steady at .02 I’m hoping the nitrate dosing doesn’t affect that

Adding more nitrate to system with actually bring your phosphates down in the long run.my tank starts looking weird when my phosphate is below .1 and my nitrates are below 10ppm.

Exactly my thinking. I tried feeding more and nitrates andnphospahtes were low. I started reef roids 3+ times a week, but while it raised my Nitrates to 20, my phosphates were 5.0 too.
So couldn't keep doing that. So ordered NeoNitro.

But just using red sea/api tests so very vague reads. But yes. I believe that is my issue as I have zero algaes, and could never keep cheato in my sump.

How much nitrate do you have to dose to maintain 20ppm Nitrates

Ha. I just does 25ml when I went to take the photo. Did 25ml last night.
Will be testing in the morning.

Keep us posted on the progress.

I was planning to do a 20 gallon water change. I will just wait till tomorrow, after I rest. In case I made nitrates skyrocket...lol

I’ve had nitrates over 300ppm for over a month once, because I had bad test kits and overdosed. I lost a Frogspawn head.nitrates are not as deadly as you may think.

Sure thing. Keep me posted how your dosing goes. I am dosing, now don’t laugh, Spectracide stump remover. I read this was being done years ago with success so fingers crossed. lol

300ppm Dear god!!! Funny is I have done everything in my power to keep nitrates near zero now there stuck at zero no matter how much I feed I think my big ball of Chaeto also has something to do with that. I realize nitrates are all not that bad but with more nitrates comes algae problems I guess

I had zero algae in my tank, my refugium grew like crazy haha and my corals were swollen.

Shi! I’ll bet they were. What is your solution recipe using sodium nitrate. I am mixing 2 tablespoons of stump remover to 8.5 cups of water. I tested the solution and got a reading of 10ppm. Would yours ratio be similar to what I’m doing?

I use this calculator...http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/calculator.htm

I take 900ml of water and add 35 teaspoons of sodium nitrate...in my system it add .31ppm for every 1ml...so I usually dose 40-50ml at a time. Which would be 12-15ppm in MY 120 system...use that calculator to figure it out.

I find that I can’t add many more teaspoons in 900ml.
