I was able to see the gyre in action tonight. It is awesome! The amount of flow that it has is amazing. I didn't think that the flow could be as strong as it was, but it is. The flow that it gets is just amazing. Ed, I'm stealing your line, this is definitely going to be a game changer.

Thank you for letting me check it out!! I really appreciate it. Also, thank you to Chris for coming out with the newest version! I definitely know what I am getting for my tank when I upgrade. :)

No problem Krista it was nice to see you.

Ed, Marketing 101....first to market with a unique product, and supply and demand....you blow your margins out the door. So they cut their margins, but guarantee they are still seeing decent profits, even below 299. You can also bet your bippy that Maxspect has goosed their margins with the new gyre.....until the next new thing comes out. Also, if and when Maxspect comes out with wireless, that's another game changer...and would drive MP's even lower.

Yep Will was saying the same thing if you remember they had a big sale on them and that was a prelude to cutting the price. They are both unique items so cost is still pretty high vs others .... just goes to show you how bad we were getting squeezed :shame:.

Makes you wonder what they are going to drop the mp10 down too. Right now the 40 and the 10 are close enough to make the 10 pointless.

great pump but doesnt do so well if you have small cerith snails in your tank!

yeah it comes with two sets of propellers and cages. Unfortunately this was the 2nd time it happened. This first time it happened I didnt find any evidence inside the cages as to what caused it but this time it all unfolded right in front of my eyes. I was looking at the tank, heard an awful sound and within seconds the pictures above is what I am left with. Carlos @ Coralvue has been great and they are sending me a one time complimentary replacement but said this is the risk we take with pumps and snails in the tank. Not sure if I will continue to use it once the new props arrive since I dont think I will be able to get all of the little snails out.

Coralvue indicated that because of the type of the pump that this is, anything that would restrict the flow thru it would not be good.
