Blue Life Clear Fx Pro - Thoughts?

I thought that too. But I've never had a situation where HA bound up so much that it tested zero. Even with the HA at its peak of growth, I was still testing nitrates between 40 and 50 with regular water changes. This drop off to zero is sudden, within the last 2 to 3 weeks or so. Sent from my...

Blue Life Clear Fx Pro - Thoughts?

I find I must make an update to this thread. The clear fx pro has been in the sump. Didn't seem to be doing anything, but I just never took it out. Hadn't done it in a while, so I decided to run a full battery of tests. Imagine my surprise when nitrates tested at zero! I was so shocked, I did...

    Raising pH

Good overview article by Randy Holmes Farley about the parameters we monitor: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php

    Raising pH

I also noticed in your other post that your phosphates tested at .5? If your concern is your SPS not looking good, you may want to attempt to lower that Phosphate, the PH may not be the problem. .5 is high ( of course, getting accurate phosphate results with a titration style kit is tough to...

    Raising pH

Before you do anything, check your test kit. What are you testing PH with? Verify your results against known good, and be sure to test a brand new batch of salt water to see if it is mixing properly as well. That calcium looks kind of low to me for SPS as well. Might want to double check...

    Protein Skimmer

If you haven't set up your tank yet, I'd recomend drilling. Check out www.glass-holes.com. I have one of their kits on my 30 gallon, and it was a snap to do, and works like a charm!

    Fish we rescued today

LOL I was joking. It's the 210 I bought from them a few years ago that will probably NEVER come out of my basement! LOL! But seriously, if there is anything I can do to help, guys, let me know.

    Thoughts on Ground Probes

I stay away from ground probes. If something is leaking into the tank, I want to know. Generally, that is indicative of a potentially failing piece of equipment, and in my case over the years, it has almost ALWAYS been a heater, which will progressively get worse until it fails. I'd rather...

Blue Life Clear Fx Pro - Thoughts?

So I finally had some time to make some adjustments on this tank. I took the filter sock out and turned the end of the return line in the sump so that the flow going in to the sump is directly hitting the bag of clear fx pro. Maybe by increasing the flow moving thu the media I will see some...

    WTB - Your old tanks

What I'm looking for specifically: 20, 30, and 40 (breeder) gallon long tanks. They do not have to be pretty, just have to hold water. I'm also looking for a 30 gallon tall. This one does not even have to hold water, it's for reptiles. Let me know what you have!

Blue Life Clear Fx Pro - Thoughts?

Actually, yes. So far, this stuff is nothing but expensive snake oil. The carbon in the pouch is high quality, I'll give it that, it cleared the water to crystal clarity, and absolutely eliminated the surface film that was appearing in the left back corner of the tank. HOWEVER, not only is...
