Holiday Party!

Lynn is unable to attend the Holiday Party, so I have one ticket available. Please use PM's if interested, I'll do this on a first come, first served basis.

Anyone going to the party from the voorheese area that can stop by Kyle's and pick up a frag for me?

I would offer, but I need to pick up our guest speaker at the airport saturday afternoon and I don't know if I would have time. If you run out of options, let me know Rob and I'll try to take care of it for you.

I decided which frags I'm bringing for the lotto:

1. Green Digi (about 1" long by 3/4" wide, nothing "special", but a nice frag.)
2. Orange Ricordea (It looks like 1 head but has 3 eyes and very likely to split up soon! This is a bright fluorescent orange color with light green eyes.)
3. "Tracy Morgonian Gorgonian" (about 7" long with a small 3/4" sprout - this is direct from Joe Yaiullo's 20,000 gallon tank that I won in the raffles at our 2011 Frag Swap!)

Was going to take some pics, but with the blue LED's on they won't turn out very good.

Can't wait til Saturday night. Dance

Weather reports aren’t looking the best for tomorrow’s gala. What is the actual schedule of events…. dinner, speaker, etc? Thanks.

When the weather people say dusting to a inch we get 10". When they say it is going to be bad its not. So I say we will be good.
Now I need to find a job that I can be wrong all the time. Plus make six figures a year and not loose my job!!! Go weather people. LOL

OK, it looks like my family will end up booking a room to be safe from the weather. The holiday party will end up as a mini-getaway since it was her bday last week. :)

That was a smart idea BuGG.
Make sure you tell them you are with the NJRC party to save money on your room.

The weather is looking a bit scary. There's no "rain date" though, so hopefully it will be ok. It looks like it won't start getting bad until after the party starts, so worst case scenario, we all sleep over Dan's house since he's the closest. Seriously though, we did have a block of rooms reserved so if you need to stay overnight, just call the hotel and tell them you're with the NJ Reefers Party. Details are in the "Holiday Party" menu tab at the top of the website.

As for a schedule Paul, there is nothing set in stone. Hor D'oeuvres will be served for the first 1/2 hour - hour. The Buffet will be setup shortly after that and depending on when it's ready, we'll either eat dinner right away, or start right away with Ken from CRF. If we eat first, Ken will speak right after we eat. Dinner is a buffet style though and will be out for most of the evening regardless.

We will have a small nano tank setup for the Frag Lotto that should be pre-heated (but tap water - remember to make sure your frags are sealed well!)... so we can start accepting them and handing out tickets during the Hor D'oeuvres period.

I would suggest everyone look through the frags whenever you get a chance (during the meal period, or while mingling beforehand, etc.) so that when we do start the lotto, everyone has an idea of what's available to pick from. I'll try to have a notepad that lists each frag's number and description and fill this out as we accept them. This will also give people a way to help choose faster.

The Frag Lotto will commence after the meal and Ken's presentation. Depending on the weather situation and how much time is left, we may give a half-hour or so before started to allow everyone to get one last peek before we start. We will try to do this as late as possible so that the frags can stay in the heated tank as long as possible. Again, if weather starts getting bad, we may do is earlier in case people want to leave sooner.

We will start it by calling 5 or so ticket numbers, then start the timer for the first picker. As that person chooses his/her frag, we'll call another number while the next one in line starts choosing. Then call the next number as that choice is made, etc. until all frags are gone. First choice will get the bonus of 2 minutes, everyone else just gets 1 minute to pick. If you can't decide by the time the timer runs out, you go to the back of the current line of 5 or so people. If your 2nd or 3rd ticket gets called while you're already in line, then you will choose the frag you were already in line for, then just go to the back of the current line. This will eliminate any complications of figuring out exact places, etc.

Make sure everyone brings a small cooler or something to hold your frags once you pick them. It may be a long time before you get home and with the weather you want to keep your frags safe!

OH, one last note: The original meal plan we selected did not include a dessert. The Hilton offered to add homemade apple strudel for us, so hope everyone likes that. It sounded yummy to me though, so I happily accepted. Dance
