Looking for ID help. Please and thank you.

This popped up out of no where. I haven’t had an anemone in years. Nothing was added and the tank covering from some neglect during Covid. The only change was the loss of a dwarf angel that I had for years. Maybe this was someth8ng that never got out of a crevice while the angel was harassing...

Lighting crisis - looking for an inexpensive LED options in a time/ budget crunch

I have a DIY LED rig that is trying to tell me to put it out to pasture. Only 1 of the 4 drivers is currently working (blues, green/red, and moon all bit it). A mix of mostly warm and a couple cool whites seem to be enough to keep what I have in there alive but I need a longer term solution. As...

WTH happened to my MP40 spare wetside

Would you use canning citric acid or is this like a -squeeze a lemon into the cleaning bath- situation? Is that as stupid as it sounds now that I’m reading it back to myself?

WTH happened to my MP40 spare wetside

Thanks Paul. Lesson learned. Hopefully my other wetsides aren’t time bombs

WTH happened to my MP40 spare wetside

They’re maybe 6+ years old. Guessing no on any kind of swap. Maybe Ecotech’s page on RC

WTH happened to my MP40 spare wetside

Guess that’s it. I soak in a mild vinegar bath for 24-48 hours. Usually about 1/3 vinegar, 2/3 water. Not doing that anymore. Hopefully what’s in the tank is safe because there’s very little oxygen in there as long as they’re submerged. I wonder what Ecotech recommends for cleaning. Fun fact -...

WTH happened to my MP40 spare wetside

Me too. Fortunately it was on a shelf away from the tank but what’s happening to the others in the tank?

WTH happened to my MP40 spare wetside

I keep (kept, I guess now) a spare wetside for my MP40. It’s a nonQD (the dry side bearing went and I failed in my attempt to repair so I got a spare out of it). Just swapped this one out about a month ago. Wish I had been there to hear what this small explosion must have sounded like.

    Quarantine

How do you manage that? My QT tank can sustain fish pretty well (the Mandarin’s a bit challenging because I’m not sure it’s eating) but how do you manage coral in a temporary set up? Do you have spare lighting? A Nano-reef that you keep running?

    Quarantine

Thanks. I’ve done the whole hypo salinity for a month followed by a month re-acclimating thing. This is just 4 seemingly healthy fish from Hidden Reef. It’s been a while since I did anything with the tank, like several years, so I was looking for a refresher. Well, my friend was..... Sent from...

    Zip’s 90 – ver.2.0

After about 2 years running with very little intervention from me, I am trying to get my tank back to a better state. I got a few fish; a pair of clowns, a pseudo, and a mandarin (I can see pods so I know there are a lot building up in there), right now all 4 are in my QT. The tank’s lone...

    Is a MP40wQD compatible with an older non-ES MP40w?

I had success with the RC forum a couple years back but who knows if the same personnel are there... I did email - through the support link on their website back on Tuesday. I'm still awaiting their response.

    Is a MP40wQD compatible with an older non-ES MP40w?

Thanks Paul. Guess that's next. I posted the same question on RC on the ecotech page back over the weekend and got no reply. I assumed they didn't like that I cheaped out and only replaced one. Damn dry side is $199 and no one was selling just that. So I found a good deal on a new one from an...

    Is a MP40wQD compatible with an older non-ES MP40w?

Will my new MP40wQD be compatible with my older non-ES MP40w for wireless coordination? Also I have a newer (3 years old) wet side from the MP40 I had to replace - can I use that wet side as a spare when I'm cleaning - on the new QD? The non ES is quiet and runs great and they're in a 90 so 2...

I think my MP40 dry-side bearings are shot...

Sad day. Dry side -1. Dave -0 I guess I should have tried replacing a single bearing. The first one I uncovered was so shot it came off in the cooling cover. I bet that was the failure. I just thought I should replace both once I had it apart. The other one, not so easy. I struggled and fought...

I think my MP40 dry-side bearings are shot...

Thanks Paul. They're in the mail. I was up until 3 painting so I have not had a chance to re-read anything yet but I didn't want to wait any longer to get started. Thanks again. I'll post my results.

I think my MP40 dry-side bearings are shot...

Thanks Paul. Once again my hero with all things DIY. I actually stayed up WAY too late reading that last night on RC. I guess sealed bearings are the way to go. I'll go back and double check the sizes. I also found a couple videos on YouTube thus morning. Fingers crossed...
