Do Linkia Stars eat Asterina Stars?

The one I had years ago did just that. I saw it several times, it would crawl over them on the glass & then it's bright orange stomach would cover it. When it moved on, the body was pure white. I had so many of them, it never really reduced my population.

    Favorite Tang

I know people think the YT is just so common & plain, but to me it just the standard for a SW tank. Plus, whenever I've looked at any of my tanks, it's always the one that really pops the most from across the room. So long as I have a tank big enough, I'll have a YT. Now, I also have a Sailfin...

Ocean revives or SB reef lights?

I've been using 2 of the OR S026 lights for years. The blue LEDs did die after 3 or so years on 1. I asked their customer service if they sold the LEDs but they didn't, since I had the older model. They did send me the lighting chart, so i bought then off ebay & watched a video and replaced...

    Wash those hands folks...

Wow, I suppose I've been lucky for all the years I've had my hands in my tank & never used gloves. I don't have corals anymore, but there are still lots of weird things in our tanks. Glad you're better now. I think I would have freaked if my eyes were reacting like that.

Best copper treatment medication for ich

Were they eating before? Copper can be stressful. I raised mine very slowly, took a week to get to full treatment level. Unfortunately, if your test kit is one of the ones that's got the hard to tell apart colors, you could be over dosing. If it's a newly setup tank, the ammonia could be...

Best copper treatment medication for ich

I tried doing copper (cupramine) with the Seachem test & it kept coming back. I purchased the Hanna test kit & found out my levels were only at half the dosage. The colors on the other test kits are sooo hard to tell the true color. I would have sworn I had the correct levels. So after...

    Kalk v 2 part v Wages

I used Mrs. Wages many years ago & it worked just like the others. The only difference I found was it was harder on impellers. I went through many until I switched to the fish brand kalk. If you're not using an impeller to stir it, you probably won't notice a difference except in your wallet.

Learning how to QT advice needed!

First, I'd highly recommend getting a hanna copper checker, since you need to keep the levels without going too high or going too low. High could kill the fish, low could be ineffective. The other color text kits are so hard to read & even found I was way off once I got my checker. Second...

Tanked cancelled - about freaking time

I enjoyed the show as it was about a hobbie I like. I just wished they mixed in some normal tanks along with all the crazy ones. They were more about what it can look like, not how to get there. As we know, a successful tank is usually achieved when done slowly.

    Reptiles to fish tanks

I had a 90 gallon that I used for a bearded dragon for a few years, then switched it over to a reef. That tank ran fine for 14 years, before I upgraded. So, if it's a true aquarium with no damage to the seams, it can be done.

    Torch coral slowly fading away??

I had similar issues with some LPS & it drove me crazy trying to figure it out. Eventually I started dosing lugols solution & they eventually stopped receding. This was years ago, but I continued to dose lugols & everything grew great afterwards. I forget the dose, but it was only a few drops...

    Ich I don’t get it

+1 what the others are saying. You can wait & cross your fingers, but most likely you'll start seeing more fish with more spots. It's just the nature of the bug.

    Ich I don’t get it

The other fish probably get it too, just don't show the signs like these two. That's why if 1 fish shows signs, you need to treat all of them. It does suck, but it's the only way to rid them of it.

What do you do with your old filter socks???

I have both the short 4" socks & the longer 4" socks & the shorter ones do clog much faster. The short ones last about 2-3 days before it spills over & the longer ones last about a week. I guess the junk collecting in the socks could break down & cause a rise in no3. You could just change the...

What do you do with your old filter socks???

Mine haven't. I remove the dryer balls, throw in the socks & run on normal. I still let them sit for a day or two before putting them in the tank.

What do you do with your old filter socks???

I run mine through the washing machine too. I run the washer on spin & drain (empty), then when done I throw in a cap of bleach & the socks on normal wash, then I put them in the dryer. Has worked fine for me.
