can they be submerged in water?

I honestly don't know. The ones I use are completely submersible. If you look around there are a lot of different solutions that people use for lights in the back. Mine is only one, and it works for me so far. There are also LED lights that are sold by Nanotuner and a couple other websites that are made for the systems. I would check out some different ideas. I don't know the size of your chambers ect so look around you can find some good ideas.
