Today is roughly six months since I stopped using a protein skimmer. I rely solely on the filter socks and algae scrubber for nutrient control. So far so good. I am dosing acropower for amino acids and sea elements for trace elements, both of which helps me do minimal water changes. The water changes that I do about 10 gallons a month is primarily for detritus removal from the tank.

I leave some growth on the screen to keep the phosphates from rising before the new growth catches up.

I've looked for them and so far I have not found any. That's not to say there aren't any, luckily when I handled the algae ball I spared any stings by a bristle worm.
Pixel 2, that's it, #nofilters. I am in love with this phone for the pictures it takes.
