Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I do sell Sodium Hydroxide for Kati Ani regeneration. However, the smallest quantity I sell is two pounds which is too much for your purpose. But, if you really get desperate, let me know.
Thanks for a great party Rod. Sorry I had to leave early, but I am not feeling too bad from the cat today, so I left in time. I really liked your discus collection.
Two comments..... For your storage container, I would look at simple Rubbermaid totes. I would also think about not using a water heater. If you are doing a 10% change or less, the temperature isn't critical. When you are doing a larger change, then throw in a heater for a couple hours.
Muriatic acid is very easy to find. Home Depot, Lowes, and any pool supply company stock it.
The Lye or Sodium Hydroxide has been harder to find. I stock it in a food grade quality. I can also regenerate the Kati Ani for you, but it is not hard to do once you know how.

Jim,
I spend much less time on forums than I should. I basically went through them to make sure I didn't miss something important in preparing for MACNA. One of the few posts that I always stopped and read was yours. I will miss it.
I do not have a website, but I can email out a flyer. If interested, PM me you email address.
David's regeneration time of three hours seems high even if you are doing one completely and then the other. I do both in less than 1.5 hours. And you do not have to be there most of this time.
I"ll add a little here.....The Kati Ani is much more popular in Europe where water waste is taboo. In the US, RO systems were often used in home water filtration, whereas DI was used in labs. To create pure water for reefs, people turned to what they were familiar with - RO. RO/DI vs KA DI both...
Separate resin beds are fairly easy to regenerate, but there are harsh chemicals involved (6:1 dilution of muriatic acid and diluted lye (sodium hydroxide). When you mix the output of each regeneration, they neutralize each other and are safe for disposal (down the drain).
Ahh a delayed thank you. We went up to see my daughter at State College for the weekend so I was MIA. That was my birthday present and we all enjoyed ourselves. Late happy birthday to my brother Mike.
I live by a good timer that I clip on my belt. I use only DI purification, not RO, which fills my 55 gallon container in 3 hours. Typical RO systems are much, much slower - so maybe the timer is not a good solution in that case.
