Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
ALL working systems with an RO membrane have a flow restrictor. If you've never seen it, it is probably a capillary flow restrictor INSIDE your waste water tube. If you'd like we can email you a set of instructions.
And yes - at the same pressure the 100 gpd membrane has a substantially lower...
A good rule of thumb is to replace your sediment filter and carbon block after six months. Amore precise way to maximize the usable life of these two filters is to use a pressure gauge to identify when pressure reaching the membrane starts to decline. This is your indication one or both of the...
I suspect you just have air in your water.
Let the water flow into a drinking water glass. Let it sit there for a minute or two - is the cloudiness (bubbles) gone?
Russ
Correct. As long as you change your carbon block on a regular basis, and use a good quality block, and don't have chloramines in your water, you are good to go with 1 carbon block (not GAC).
Under normal conditions, and unless you have chloramines in your water, there is not need for two carbon stages (other than to drain your wallet).
Use of standard GAC as a prefilter to systems used in this hobby should be avoided. This is a holdover from when drinking water RO systems with...
I know you didn't ask me, but if you did:)
I'd have you move the booster pump after all the prefilters and after a strainer as shown in the diagram. This would avoid putting the high pumped pressure on the prefilter housings.
You might want to think about this order:-shut off solenoid
-5 mic...
The maximum pressure for a Filmtec 75 gpd membrane is, and my guess is that this will surprise you...
21 bar or 300 psi!
The thing to remember is that all the other components in a typical RODI system aren't designed for pressure that high. The weak link in terms of being able to withstand...
Hmm. We recommend to our customers that in general, a 4 stage consisting of sediment filter-> high quality carbon block -> RO->DI should be the default. Add additional prefilters (filters that treat the water before it reaches the membrane) only if you like to needlessly spend money on the...
You're going down the right trail!
The whloe idea of having smaller pre sizes in successive filters is good, but it applies only to sediment filters. If you apply it to carbon blocks the blocks will trap sediment, but that's not what you want them to do. You want carbon blocks free of...
This varies by resin manufacturer. Our resin is (by volume) 60% anion and 40% cation, but it is a 1:1 ratio in terms of capacity.
Depends what's in your water
this is true

I'll have to differ with you a little on this.
Different membrane manufacturers test their membrane performance under a standard (but different for many manufacturers) set of conditions including pressure and temperature. For example:
Increase your pressure for example from 40 to 70 psi...
