I think you wanna check what the headloss is with the chiller. Check the documentation for what the min./max. flow is.
I found that I needed to overrate the pump for the amount of flow the chiller required, back when I had the chiller on a closed loop. I was using the Eheim 1250, with 317 gph...
yeah, I should have listened to people saying the 6-lines are the devil incarnate. I got him to grab all of the pyramidal snails in my tank before the clam arrived. He did a good job of that. Now, I just wish he would... well, you know! I miss having pods around the tank. After having to banish...
yes indeedy-o! ::)
Hey, I'll get to a meeting as soon as they're not while I work on Saturday. :( I REALLY do want to meet you folks in the flesh. Darn my opposite-every-other-working-person's schedule!
I guess I should have known better. I bought a candy stripe pistol shrimp at Hidden Reef for my yellow watchman goby. I asked the guy if he thought it would be a problem with my six-line, since he harrassed my peppermint shrimp so bad that I had to banish the shrimp to my refugium. He assured me...
As above, my aqua-medic fixture blew-up this morning. It had been sparking some, so I figured the ballast was bad. I ordered a new one, set to arrive tomorrow.
Well, of course, the sparks really few this morning, and the light stopped working. I took it apart and saw that one of the end-caps...
I tried testing using the "low resolution" method, where you use half the stuff and double the reading. It says I have a calcium of 520. I suppose that's possible... I was dosing some before things went hay-wire. Maybe I over did it?
Any one recently get a bad Salifert calcium test kit? Mine's reading over 500 (needs another 0.53 mL of CA-3 to get the test tube water to turn blue). I'm assuming it's my new one that is bad, and not the old one (my old readings were more around 380-400, a more believable number). In the...
He attached to that rock while it was buried in my sandbed, acclimating. I think he's pretty solid in there... there's a little valley in the rock where he's attached. Hopefully, all will be well!
In the meantime, hopefully my water will go back to normal soon. I must have had a faulty calcium...
I had heard that about the little clams. The new clam book is on my birthday list, so I'll have to wait another few weeks. In the meantime, I figure it couldn't hurt to feed the tank! I feel like, with my six-line and peppermint picking at the rocks all the time, my pod population seems to be...
I once saw what I thought was the molt from my peppermint shrimp in the mouth of my scolymia coral. When I couldn't find "Scampi" weeks later, I realized what had happened! Weird things can happen... ;D
So what are you planning to keep? I've always wanted to set up a 60g reef... maybe with two pendants, with the tank kinda low so you can see it easy from the top. Good for clams and such. Probably need T5's or Halides for them, though. $ :o$
