You never really know what coral will for certain win. I have a hammer that’s loosing the battle against poccilipora just because the poccilipora is growing so fast.
Zoas will eventually win out. Blastos will sting back, but the growth rate of zoas and constantly annoyance of them being around the base of the blasto will aggravate the blasto and kill it. I would take the blast and build a base for it around the zoas and when the zoas are almost to touching...
Eventually the zoas will grow up the blasto stalk and if they are fast growing cheap zoas, the zoas will win and kill it fast. If they are slow growing zoas, your blasto will hold its own, for awhile but eventually loose
Yeah I was also wondering where your rock came from. Is the sand also fine sand? I once took over a tank that had rock with built up organics. I started doing waterchanges with my own water weekly, and it was like 50 percent waterchanges. I knew what I was doing so I wasn’t worried about killing...
I have big setosa chunks that keep breaking from mother colonies. They are around 5 inches wide by two inches. Pick up only $10. The white part of the coral you see was just deep in the colony and had no light and is fully alive.
That’s wild, I know there are countless cases of the wet sides cracking, then rusting and swelling. I wonder if it has anything to do with how people clean them in Citrix acid baths. All I ever owned was ecotech powerheads and never had it happen to one. Had the same mp10 for 8 years.
Atleast one gyre in the tank pushing water across the top is the way to go. I have not upgraded modes ever but they are amazing for wide flow patterns. Acros love them.
