What about the LR and Sand?? He has to change all LR and sand??

Hi All, One of my friend was using copper Med in his displaying Tank with LR and Sand in it.He was arguing with me that we can remove the copper med from the tank. My question Is it possible to remove copper from Tank?? If so how can we do it?? Thanks, Avi
