There are quite a few reefers, like myself, that run carbon 24/7 in phos-reactors. I run two reactors, the other with phos-ban for phosphate control. Change out monthly.
My washer tends to ruin the plastic ring I have on mine, even on gentle. I just turn them inside out, blast the large piece's off in the sink, then run them under water until the water squeezes kind of clean, then soak them in a bucket with some bleach. Let them sit overnight and rinse well...
Good thread, I hope to see more responses. I'm looking to automate this also. Right now I'm torn between an auto top off and a doser and haven't quite figured out how a contoller unit like the RK2 would fit into this. Also, is it best to feed the unit directly from the RO/DI or do I need a...
I tried changing the bulbs, as I bought new ones for the swap, and still no luck. I was concerned that maybe I damaged the ballast but I don't think so, given the response I got from Ice Cap's forum on RC.
Carlo,
Thanks for the reply, I didn't know you could take them apart. Exactly what I was seeking. The end caps are relativley cheap, but the drive to the LFS to get them is at least a two hour round trip. I'll pull one off and see if I can re-wire it and avoid the trip. If I have to go, it...
I just re-installed my Ice Cap 660 and T12 lights into my new canopy and now only one light, lights up. My wiring is the same and I changed the new buld that's not lighting with one of the old ones and nothing. Is it possible that I've got a wire loose in the end caps? Can you tighten these...
Surprisingly enough, the wall it back's up against is exactly 6' long and it will catch/span the other two joists. I figure it won't hurt and maybe give me a little more piece of mind. That and the fact I'll get another two feet of cabinet space for new equipment down the road isn't a bad side...
I've just finished my new canopy and am getting ready to mount two 250W SE, spider reflectors/ice cap ballast, lights. Do I screw the reflector directly up tight to the wood top or should I put some type of heat resistant material between the reflector and the wood? Thanks for the reply's.
