    the braces are to stiffen the frame... however if I do extend the out side legs, then I could eliminate them from the design. 1x3 won't be needed, I've run the calcs and 1x1 will be fine for this size load and span. ;D BTW this is my last build thread http://hvreef.org/yabb/index.php?topic=8527.0

    I think / hope that with a fully open bottom area to let the heat from the radiator out that it won't be an issue.

    yeah I think I'm going to extend the outside legs down to the floor just to make my life easier... BTW this is an exterior wall will 2x6 studs... I'm structural designer by day so I'm confident that I'll have any and all support bugs worked out before this is built.
