I agree.... Mag Drives have never let me down, I have always had two Mag Drive 5's running my return and they have not let me down in 8-years, yes, i've had to replace the impeller once on each pump but at different times. one was at 4years and the other was at 5years, I always keep one impeller...
What type of lighting do you have? sometimes algea issues are atributed to old bulbs. i used to deal with this alot when i was running T12 VHO's.... I loved the color i got from them but they would grow algea once the spectrum changed. i'de change the bulbs and within 1-2 weeks algea was gone.
Usually, Calcium and Alk will SeeSaw one another until you reach the sweet spot as they call it.... what I mean is if your calcium is high then usually the alk will be on the low side and vise versa until you get everything balanced... so, if your calcium is indeed high, check your alk.... and...
