Road Trips

My good friend @Salted and I take a road trips every once in a while looking for deals, cecking ot a couple/few LFS- for something different and comparing prices- we always come home with something- today was no exception- all I got was a coral banded shrimp and a chalice coral- he got a damsel he was looking for and a nice goby for a great price. I could have spent more- some good deals on coral- I'm not looking for any new fish ( maybe a butterfly, the right wrasse or blenny). We wanted to stop at another vendor, but it was Chinese New Year- next time maybe- the best part is spending time with a fellow reefer, comparing notes, admiring his tank and progress, sharing some stuff- hermits, phyto,a coral, and getting me out of the house- I've been stuck for over a month with a broken ankle, couldn't do much of anything for the first few weeks- @Salted dropped off a care package of food and drink- helped me get though it, I've moved up from walker to crutches to now just walking with a limp- slowed him down a bit today- maybe a good thing lol-

Argh. Tough recovery. If you're in Spring Lake area at any point lemme know, my wife has an acupuncture office and can help reduce pain and inflammation, zero charge for a fellow reefer :)

Took another one today with @Salted . Like to keep any eye on his tank lol. Wanted to check out Coral Garage- pm'd him- no response, off to Mike's in Parsippany ( find him on craigslist) a lot of coral- some you won't see in any LFS- prices are decent- got a few corals, got a green Kenya tree for $10- love a bargain, then off to SeaLevel- they are making the place over-- fresh water is gone- the wall is now all SW- the tanks aren't fully stocked yet- Prices overall are still high for me- back to Tom's for a beer and chat/ test the tank- a great day for me

Another adventure today with my pal @Salted , we've been wanting to check out @CORAL-GARAGE for a while- David is in the area and has been a vendor here for a while- I'v bought from him a couple of years ago and had my corals shipped and never got to meet him. A really nice guy- a vet and a NYC fireman Tom and I both scored nice corals and spent about an hr just talking shop David's approach/ filtration etc his way to selling corals. He has no website, sells his corals via Facebook- mostly with weekly auctions- all corals start at $1- auctions end around 7-8pm on Sundays- some great deals if you wait until the last minutes- I'm going to check it out. Each person we've met so far has different corals then the other, prices too. Still want to check out Fengs reef. My favorite way is still to buy/trade with other reefers, but everyone has something unique/ different than the others
