Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
thanks.
im in love with the firefish. its a total coward, lol. darts into a hole in the rockwork the instant i move in a way that isnt consciously slowed within 2' of the tank. but it comes out soon after, and looks gorgeous.
not a very active thing. but when it does swim, its pretty...
looking good. is this tank from scratch or an upgrade from a smaller one?
im asking since you got sps in there, and i never tried adding them to a tank younger than 3 months. im asking cuz im itching to get some sps in mine lol.
i used to have 2 of them, and i thought they were awesome looking, and they did a good job cleaning too. but they are hard to find for some reason, even though they supposedly are easy to breed in captivity.
does anybody have any they would be willing to sell?
for reference, im talking...
glad my plan seems to be solid. :)
yeah, i had clowns before. the female only ever left the anemone to eat. the male would sometimes go a few inches away.
im looking for a small plate coral with cool coloration. not an all-orange or green plate.
if anybody has one they want to sell, or knows of one for sale, please let me know.
im testing every 2-3 days. once i get a good pattern going, ill drop down to weekly testing.
naturally. :)
especially if they are as photogenic as this sexy guy:
i got 2 part solutions for now. maybe later ill switch to something else. but until i see a problem, why change? i thought about calcium reactor, but never looked too far into it.
i picked up a helfrichs firefish from AO a short while ago. he is acclimating right now. thanks mnat for the...
cant get a nauti spiral yet. too early for my tank. but the pics i see online look stunning. i will definitely have to pm you in a month or 2 and see if you can chip of a tiny bit for me.
how hardy is it in your opinion? any particulars on care apart from the usual med-high light and high flow?
bubble algae was taking over, so the tanks lifespan was limited. the animals i am sorry for though.
yup. i read almost all the reefkeeping.com chemistry articles, and have to know a lot of that stuff for school anyway - im an animal sciences major.
and i remember some from the last setup...
im not really new to the hobby. me and my dad maintained this tank until sandy killed it. after a year of nothing im setting it back up on my own.
so i know basic coral care and such.
my Ca has not deviated from 420 at all (yet), my kh is mostly at 11dkh and once went to 10dkh for a day, Mg...
The setup is only a few weeks old, and just got its first bit of diatoms 2 days ago. Now at an equilibrium between algae and cleaner consumption.
To my knowledge, a tank this new is not stable enough for sps.
I'm hoping to make an sps dominant tank. Too bad I can't add sps for another few months. In the meantime I will be on the lookout for a nice plate coral.
In a few months I will get some montis a stylophora and birdsnest, and a BTA. Then if all is going well ill finish it off with some cool...
holy ****, youre right. i didnt even catch that it was 2x larger than i needed. thanks for the save. that could have ended quite badly...
ok im gonna need to redo the mesh before i add any firefish.
thats a great deal, but i only need 1 helfrichs, and i will most likely get the clowns...
thanks for the suggestion. always good to check twice.
its .5" so im good. :)
sorry to hear about you fish. thats always a bummer. i had a betta that somehow wormed her way between the light of the tank and the small opening in the back, and was found dead and dried out next to the tank...
hmm. ill stop by tomorrow evening, see if i can convince them to give it off at sale price, or partway. if not, oh well. i cant give em over $100 for it.
well my current mesh seems around 1/4". its black so its more visible, but i dont really feel like redoing it just for its color at the moment. if its a finer grade i need, then ill do that no problem, though.
aquatic obsessions? i went in for the first time last week. if they have one that...
oh i was watching your tanks stock list a lot. and enjoying the eyecandy pics you got up. :D
i was on the fence about helfrichs, unsure if their color actually look as amazing as i see on sellers websites, but your pic looked even nicer.
earlier today i saw a naoko wrasse in a tank, and was...
here is what i was thinking on stocking in my 30 gal reef.
2 picasso perculas
1 helfrichs firefish
and maybe 1 scalet shrimp OR 1 blue neon goby - but thats not til after few months.
am i trying to put too much?
i have a small fuge with cheato, and a relatively good skimmer (for the size).
