I have done the U tube mod about a year ago. I run my water level just about 2" below the neck of the skimmer.

steve68, Have you had this problem with your MRC? It dose seem like alot of MRC owners are have this kind of problems. If you call MRC and talk to Tim he will tell you that no one has problems with the skimmers so it must be you.

AS of right now It is skimming very very dry. My gate valve is all most closed. I think it might have work a hole lot better if the outlet of the skimmer was on top and not on the bottom. I will give it till the weekend.

OK I Put it in. The bubbles are very fine. The SCFH of air on the Beckett was 45 and on the Mazzei injector it is 25 SCFH of air. I had to close the Gate Valve quite a bit to bring the water up the column. I will see how it works out.

I think the Beckett is the problem. So this would be a great test.

I clean my glass every day all so.

My MRC-2 skimmer needs to be adjusted all the time. Some times more than once a day. It is a pain in the butt. I am thinking of replacing the Beckett with 1" Mazzei Injector. The flow is 1020gph and my Blueline 55 is 1100 gph. I Have talk to many people with MRC skimmers that are having the same...

Your return chamber is way to small for that pump. Just tee it off and run on of the tee return back to the first chamber of the sump that will help keep the sump full. Just make sure you put a valve on it so you can control the water flow back to your sump. Daniel

Look what I would do is put a tee coming out of your return from the pump. Put two gate or ball valves on each side so you can control the water flow going back to your tank at wide open and to your sump in the first chamber so this way your return camber stays at the water level you like. All...

OK just by lifting my lights off the tank rim by 1" my temp is down to 79*. I am going to get a fan to night for my sump. Now it would be great If I see more temp drop from the fan.

My tank was 90* about week ago. I have four Maxi-jet 900 8.5 watts at 230gph for powerheads on a wavemaker. I do not have any heaters in this tank. I just lifted my lighting hood 1" higher and now it is 3.5" off the water. My hood used to sit flush on top of the tank rim and now it is 1.5" off...
