Hang on fuge with overpowered lights, moderate/quick flow thorough the sump, and I'm occasionally heavy on the feeding, also dosing Red Sea AB+.

If you're stuck on the smaller size, start looking towards reptile bulb fixtures, they get as low as 14". They're high output T5s, just drop in reef bulbs, but they're usually single bulb fixtures, so you might need to run a few.

If its going under cover and you dont care about looks go to home Depot or Lowes and look at the blue or black kitchen recycling bins, then cut it down to fit under your cabinet. Get one of the $20 thick sided ones, they retain their shape when filled. The thinner 'smooth sided' ones buckle...

The new(ish) Kessil AP series is a great looking unit with fantastic lighting and spread. DangerDave could probably give you a review, he has something like 34 of them.

Picked one up, loved it, made excuses for it, removed it. Of all the murdering habits of hermits, these guys are pretty bad. They start with the snails, move up to smaller crabs, and take shots at passing fish. But they do look dope.
