    When will I learn...

that you can't walk by the tank, when you have 100 more important things you're supposed to be doing and think "oh let me reposition that powerhead a bit, and oh look the stupid rotating hydor isn't rotating let me fix that real quick will not end until - you knock the front guard off the...

Was rear ended yesterday, confused with insurance/law in NJ.

Thanks for the info, I had planned to goto the dealer for repairs... it's a '08 mercury mariner (so pretty new). Hopefully that won't be an issue with the other insurance company, I wish I knew who she had so I could start calling this week and not have to wait for the police report but we...

Was rear ended yesterday, confused with insurance/law in NJ.

Thanks John that makes sense. The officer told me that NJ law states that anyone who hits you from behind is automatically at fault (as long as you weren't going in reverse etc) and the fact that the other driver openly admitted she wasn't looking and hit me didn't hurt my case.

Was rear ended yesterday, confused with insurance/law in NJ.

My daughter and I were rear ended last night while at a stop sign going from rt 35 to another street, thankfully the explorer that hit my mariner wasn't going very fast so everyone was ok. My bumper (which has the backup sensors) is trashed and will need to be replaced. I immediately called the...

    Is it PEST ?

my vote is some sort of sponge, I have things like that in my sump and in the back of my aquapod... not flatworms, they don't move at all and look like a flat sponge type thing that I also sometimes see on my rock. The pineapple sponges stick out straight and have a little tuft at the top, these...

    Controlling Star Polyp growth

I only let mine grow on the sand bed not touching my rocks or on a rock separated from the rest of my rocks and use scissors to cut the piece smaller as needed.

Water Change Disasters - A New Twist!!!

a water change where the end of the hose doesn't slip out of the tank and dump water on my feet or the wall isn't a real water change, it's the only way my walls keep nice and clean since I'm forever washing them all down after they are sprayed with sw.

Drain RO/DI units in between using?

I don't know if its what you're supposed to do or not ??? but I've always left mine filled (I use it hooked to the kitchen sink when I use it, stored under or in the garage when I don't) my TDS is always zero.

    hair algae

also, as is always the case... in order to get rid of it and keep it away you must figure out why you have it (this from the woman with a small byposis issue right now) but make sure you're keeping up on your water changes, your bulbs aren't to old, you're using RODI water, you have enough flow...

    another phosban reactor question

Thanks for the response Mike... very true about putting it inside. I ended up using suctions to mount the pump up on the upper part of my sump, at least it couldn't drain to much water that way LOL

    another phosban reactor question

I just got my viaaqua reactor, the directions leave something to be desired and just direct you to see the instructions included with your media, and my little jar of phosban just says to make sure the flow is restricted enough to prevent the granules from tumbling, which would grind them into...

    tiny starfish

He mentioned striped arms, asternia are just white correct? OP do a google photo search of asternia stars and see if that's what you have, if not Mike what are the baby ones you have in your tank (and were kind enough to pass along to me?) Although I never see them out of the rock I see their...

    phosban reactor recommendation please

Good points, always know what you're treating and why. In my case the reactor is needed... RO/DI used, min. 10g weekly (normally 20g bi-weekly) water changes, good flow etc. Same everything as I do/use in my aquapod (which doesn't even have a skimmer or refug) and that tank doesn't have a spot...

Need someone with PVC experience near Middletown

This is a stretch but I have no idea who to call for this so I figured it couldn't hurt asking here... maybe someone has PVC experience (and the right tools) and I could hire them :) The pvc venting for our furnace in the basement was installed with a negative pitch, from my guess whoever...

    phosban reactor recommendation please

Glad to see mention of the ViaAqua, I was actually just looking at that as an option since I saw it came with the hoses and a pump and was a really good price. Also sounds like it might work out better for me given the smaller size (not to much room in my sump). So that seems like a viable...
