looks great joe! i love how the shrimp is enjoying the archway.
question - did you widen the tunze cover? Looks like you took out every other bar or something.
Unless the tank is big - there's a good chance the GSM will go after the black perc and show him/her who's the boss. I would suggest returning/selling one clown.
holy cow I thought this was a joke post.
first off - WELCOME to NJRC! glad you found us.
I have READ about some people who still maintain UGFs in a reef environment - but I believe it was mostly softies - and also the guy was doing some kind of very slow reverse flow.
POint being - it's...
Re: AGA 120 (very few pictures and lots of dull writing)
Well it's been 4 weeks since LR was introduced into the tank. not a whole lot of things in there - the usual cast of mini brittle stars, asterina stars (which I've been removing), a few bristle worms, a feather duster rock (i call it that...
i could be wrong by bio spira is in the refrigerated section I believe - I don't know if OG II or which LFS carries it. I thought about going that route too but just ended up buying cured LR from another reefer on this board.
I wouldn't put anything in there with any readings on Ammonia or...
When I did lab tests with mice and rats - we were breeding dozens of them in a short period of time. A single female could be used 2,3 times a year to get a litter. It was easy and it's no wonder rats are used all over the world for testing.
I don't think you can compare rats with starfish...
yes - it works and dump the fluval unless you're running it exclusively with carbon/gfo. The fluval (and any cannister) can become a trap and may actually be creating more nitrates/phosphates to be released back.
I would sell maybe 30# of LR to help clear out space. You've got a nice Deep Sand Bed - and there's plenty of LR in there I think to help manage ammonia/nitrite and to a degree nitrates. The removal of some LR will help in that it will allow more flow and reduce the amount of detritus trapped in...
as far as i know- tuxedo blue urchins are supposedly excellent at coralline removal...as long as you don't mind the rather haphazard way they go about it.
oh and thanks phyl! I didn't realize my reefgadget was for an acryllic tank. It works well on glass still!
personally i like the dj panels...like these
You can order them pretty much from most stores (i got mine from a dj store in long island) but you can order them from amazon here
In terms of timers, you could just get any heavy duty ones sold at a hardware store. To calaxa's point - you could...
I've read with interest that this is one the few species you can keep in even numbered groupings - the author (Tim Hayes) preferred groups of 12 or so. Interesting fact - each one possesses both male and female organs!
Good luck finding these - i don't think I have ever seen one at any of the LFS.
I was able to get one from dflint when he left the hobby - though I think my "razor" is actually made of plastic.
The production of these has ceased for some time. We'd have to convince the creator to re-start. Don't count on it...I know he's been super busy.
