    Avast marine Ato kit

The auto shut off valve that comes with most rodi systems operate with pressure not electronically. These auto shut off valves are meant to work with a float valve that when closed creates back pressure on the system which in turn causes the auto shut off valve to "shut off" the waste water and...

    Asterinas eating my zoas

+1. They seem cool at first but they reproduce very quickly and can become out of hand really fast. I lost about $ 300-400 in high end zoas to them a few years back before I realized they were the problem. If your numbers are low manually remove them when you see them as previously stated. If...

    Biopellets & UV

Uv sterilizers only kill free floating organisms. For the uv to kill something it must pass through it. I'm not positive but I do not think a uv will help with cyano

    Uv

With uv sterilizers you also need to make sure that the flow rate through the uv is set to the manufacturers guideline or slower. If you are passing too much water through the uv it is pretty much ineffective.

    Uv

Uv bulbs need to be changed at least once per year, every 6-8 months would be best. The effectiveness of the bulb starts to diminish from the time it is first turned on. A quality bulb is recommended because there are quite a few cheaper brands out there now. I do not think that there is an...

Zeovit zeolites in a next reef reactor...

Hey guys I have been thinking about doing Zeo on my frag tank. My reasoning is that I have very little live rock rubble in my small sump and the tank is bare bottom. Due to these 2 things I feel that the tank does not have adequate biological filtration. I am debating between running...

    RO/DI woes

I've been doing a little more thinking on this. If you are going to set up a container to aerate water it might be easier to pass the water through the RO stages of the unit and collect this water to aerate. My reasoning for this is the rejection rate of the RO membrane, which is usually 3:1...
