Since the addition of more feedings/ adding reef energy because my nitrates are 0 the pink lemonade which has done nothing is starting to grow. Here is a 2 week growth change from November to December.
Just throwing my 2 cents in. While there are reefs and some calcium carbonate building corals off our coast. I for sure would not think about putting our water in a tank with corals I have spent hundreds of dollars on a frag. In college I had learned about sediment masking and since our beaches...
Hopefully 2021 brings a house into my future and then the bigger tank will come. I have my old 75 gallon tank and full setup in my fathers basement so I will end up turning that into a frag tank. Keep the biocube as a visual inspection tank/ qt and then a water box as the show tank.
Mark when I used to have my old 75 gallon tank which I was able to feed heavily, my alk would sit at 9 and stuff grew like crazy. I used to have my pictures on a friends photobucket. However we can’t figure out how to access the pictures anymore but the tank exploded with coral growth at 9dkh.
I have never dealt with red slime in my display ever. In all my tanks it would be present in my fuge but never ever touched the display. It was weird I guess the flow was always too much. My rocks get blasted to where I don’t think bacteria can even colonize on it. I remember an old old reefer...
I would prefer to have big fish who crap a lot but I don’t have a skimmer on the tank so exporting the dissolved organics only happens with my water changes so for now I am making small changes with tiny fish that make tiny crap :)
My tank only has a target mandarin, two small clowns and an azure damnsel. The fish were getting a few pellets once a day backs then. Now I have been adding 1 ml of reef energy, a cube of mysis and a saltifert measuring spoon of reef roids. And my phosphates haven’t budged lol
I have a 29 biocube with a massive amount of rock in the tank, so honestly the amount of water in the tank is prob 20 gallons. I keep my alk 7.7 to 8.1 and I do 6 gallon water changes with reefcrystals and the corals do not give a hoot with the rise in alk. I have always used reef crystals and...
Thanks for the kind words guys. For the first time every I have tested my nitrates and astonishing, my cube has not a lick of nitrates so I have been trying to feed just a tad bit more everyday with the addition of reef energy to help boost it up.
I don’t think it’s reaching for more light, I am sure the xr15 is plenty of piercing light for it. Just seems super happy and fluffy to me getting comfy with the flow.
I started with a tricolor nana many many years ago as my first sps and I swear that thing was brown for about a year and a half under t5. It encrusted a lot and then when I switched to halides and vhos it turned into the nicest colony in the tank. Sometimes the easy cheap ones turn into...
