Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I'm thinking of doing them all again as well. But since I just did all of them between June 11 and July 22, I think I'll give Harry a rest for now.
I just started Homeland, Phyl. I do remember reading it and enjoying it, so I will read this trilogy before going back to Harry.
And yes I agree...
I have one on my 55g softie tank with a maxijet 1200 for a pump. When they first came out a Rio pump was standard and the MJ1200 was an upgrade. Many folks upgrade to a Mag3.
You will get mixed opinions on them. They are handmade and there seems to be some variation in performace. I'm very...
Hey Nick,
As Carlo and I have both said, the steps right now should be:
1)Stop dosing.
2)Get accurate Alk, CA and MG levels.
At that point the most likely action will be to lower the Alk gradually through water changes. But post your parameters first.

Hey Steve,
It's a good thing to try and minimize wastewater. As you get going you might find that setup cost prohibitive.
You can get rechargeable resins, but that requires the use of some additional chemicals that present other issues.
Many folks with RO/DI units use the waste water to fill...
Tina,
Tell Don he owes us 40' of tubing, we didn't get it in the buy. I wasn't going to bother because it was mine and only $3. Tell him to send it to you.
6 meq is far from normal. Natural seawater is 2.5. Most reefers shoot for 3 -4. 6 is about 16.8 dkh.
As far as adding calcium, if you aren't testing for it, rely on water changes. Only add elements that you are testing for.
Let us qualify that statement with if you are testing your CA and it is stable you generally do not need as much with softies. Softies do use and need CA. They just don't suck it up as fast as the stonies and clams.
See my post that just popped up, you are not dumb. ppm is not the most frequently used alk or alkalinity unit of measure. You have the right thing. 50ppm = 1 meq/l = 2.8 dkh.
