Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
If you want to do this turn-on/turn-off manually, the least expensive way is to pick up a two-gang plastic electrical box, a switch, an outlet, cover plate and an inexpensive 6-12 ft extension cord. You’ll cut off the outlet end of the extension cord and use a small portion of the wire to wire...
George, as always, the detail included in both the sump build and stand/cabinet/canopy is phenomenal. Always love these DIY posts….it makes me jealous because it’s been too long since I’ve made some sawdust.
With your sump, I found it interesting that you first held the baffles in place and...
I’m so old I helped Noah build the Ark. So I measured my tank tonight at
3.28 cubits x 0.94 cubits x 1.14 cubits
and used your formula to find that what I thought was 90 gallons only came to 0.02 gallons!!!!
My eighth grade Science teacher, Mrs Kieverac, repeated told us that if we...
I think this is interesting stuff and obviously good science. She (screen name: tektite) has posted some of her findings over on R2R HERE.
However, I’m bothered by her relatively high travel budget. It almost seems like a means for these two to fund their travel back and forth between...
You could save a few bucks by picking up two of THESE....way more than enough light for a 75. The only difference between the Value fixtures and the Photon is that the controls for the value fixture are potentiometer knobs. The Photon comes with it's own controller.
Not enough like and not powerful enough. I believe these are approximately 1 watt LEDs and that won’t penetrate 24 inches of water. It’s my opinion, you’ll need a minimum of 3 watt LED’s…..and a lot more wattage.
Have you looked at ReefBreeders. Quality LED fixtures at reasonable cost.
Again, I’m thinking peppermint. Here’s the photo proof
My unknown picture:
Picture from Xtalreef Hitchhiker site:
Picture from Melevsreef:
To me they all look very similar......a peppermint snail.
At this point....peppermint or olive, i've put him back in the sump.
I’m leaning towards it being a peppermint snail. Reference the following two sites:
Hitch Hiker Site (about halfway down)
Melevsreef
What do you think?
Couldn't be a stom, unless as a baby they start out with a shell that completely surrounds them....and I doubt it. Stomatella have a half-a$$ little piece of a shell on their backs. This little guy is "shelled" all the way around.
I have an older tank…set up in 2008. Haven’t put anything in it for some time. Pulled this out of the filter sock today. What is it? It is about 3/8 of an inch long with 3 brownish rings separated by 2 whitish rings. It has a proboscis like projection on the front. I’ve looked in my...
Jim, sorry for the loss of the fish, but did you run a bubbler as they suggest? It’s my understanding that Chemiclean depletes oxygen levels in the tank. Maybe that contributed to the fish’s death.
However, sounds like you’re on you way to a cleaner tank.
Myrjon, not a problem….one of each.
Kyle, with you I’ll have to use my sixth sense and say you want one of each…..orange and purple…..and boy, do I have more.
