    Param help

I’m assuming all three test kits were within reasonable error, and agreeing with each other. Measure the calc of freshly prepared RC water. If it was like the lot I had, it was well over 500. However, with a 10% water change per week, and you have all those sticks, and now hearing you...

Also, which salt are you using, how frequently do you do water changes, and what volume of water do you change. One of the reasons I’m switching from RC to IO is because of high calc. I went two months with only dosing alk. And this was with a weekly water change of 15 gallons on a 90...

What did you get from the swap?

What I got from the swap was a lot of grief from my wife for being there Friday afternoon and evening setting up, and all day Saturday from 7:00AM to now (7:00PM). Actually I did win an RO unit from the raffles, (which I don’t need), and picked up some fragging stuff….plugs, bags, and the...

Yes, turn off the pump to Calc only. Let Alk "catch up." Let's see, you have a 40B with a heavy load of sticks, so I'd test again in two days and see where you're at. Adjust pump appropriately at that point.

Snowflake Eel, Bursa Trigger, and Scopas Tang free to good home!

Ed, the Liveaquaria link to that fish had a linkable part that explained whether it was "reef compatable," and here is what that said: NO And here is their definition: Reef Compatible: Designates whether a species will cause harm to any coral, clam, crustacean or other sessile...

    What might this be?

That photo is useless! Could it be a feather duster (safe) or an anemone (Corynactis…..with caution)??? Need a better photo.

    55 to 75 upgrade

Loving that DIY overflow….nicely done! Is it truly quiet like they claim? Wow! You got that up and running quick. Is that a big leather on the right third of the tank? Any cycle involved and/or did you use some denitrifying magic juice?

    Arce's Reef

Danger Will Robinson (I know, I’m dating myself) Dry rock is not safe to simply add to the tank…..it will cycle. There is dead stuff in that rock which will cause a cycle. Now, if you were adding a piece or two, that might be fine, but more than that, you’re playing Russian...

    Suction Cups?

If a ¾ piece of plywood and a piece of foam is going to mean fitting this beast through the door, that plywood is coming off, come he!! or high water! A sharp chisel at the glue joint is either going to sheer the glue or split the wood. Once the top is off, and if you now have bits and...

75 Rimless! Mixed Reef, starting from the bottom!

I certainly don’t mean to be the tang police, but this is just wrong. Tangs are crap machines and three in a thirty isn’t right…..and I’m just talking crap…..forget about them wanting room to swim. That’s my two cents.

Jim, looking real good. FYI, that center brace is not necessary. This stand is extremely overbuilt. You'll be fine if you wish to remove that center brace.

    55 to 75 upgrade

Dirty, looking great. I’m not familiar with “pink” Teflon tape, but it just doesn’t sound like it should be “heavy duty.” Now I’m not familiar with this overflow, but assume the two “down” elbows are the normal overflows, while the one “up” elbow is the emergency overflow if the...
