    Foam Rock Wall

The foam is either polystyrene, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate or a mixture of these. If it comes in a can, the likelihood are the last two, and most likely just polyurethane. There is a gas that gets entrapped in the closed cells or the foam that will outgas over time, but the release is sooooo...

    Jceli728's 120g tale

The stand looks great. Nice job! How do you like the weight of that thing? We just did one for a 90 and skinned it with ½ ply...it weighs a ton. Your skin looks pretty nice. What did you use?

    Question

You could put a strainer on the bulkhead going to the pump. Or, if you have an in sump pump, on the pump. Here are examples of strainers: http://www.glass-holes.com/category.sc?categoryId=22

    Canopy versus open top

I think some of what you are asking boils down to personal preference.  To go canopy or no canopy. Now, for my random thoughts: To quote you, your current canopy is “fugly.”  Is there a chance you could re-work that canopy by adding new doors, some molding, a new paint job?  You already have a...

    Question

Here's something similar, but it is an in-sump pump. Note the tee comes off the return line and returns excess flow to the refugium on the right. Out of view is the valve at the end of that perpendicular line. Hope this clears it up:

    Question

First off I would not attempt to meter a pump by using a filter sock. Address the actual problem. It sounds like one of three things: Pump too big. Sump too small. Feed from the display too slow. If you want to live with what you have now, I would put a tee in the return line (coming from the...

    Dream Tank - 4000 Gallons

Ferrigini…..lol Just for clarification, two cars; one a Ferrari 430 and the other a Lamborghini. Each one of these cars sells for over 200K. I don’t know about you, but the last time I looked in my driveway, none of my vehicles sell for 200K. For that fact, all seven cars I own don’t total up...

    carbon

As a chemist, I can tell you that there are hundreds, if not thousands of different carbons available...differing in size, porosity and origin of materials. As far as what we’re using...the one from the group buy. I think another carbon / phosban group buy is coming up next month.

One tank 2 tank, small tank big tank

Hey Mike, I’m in discussions with the Smithsonian right now about displaying this antique beauty behind glass. I can’t complain…it still cuts. The one problem is that it is not the typical 7 ¼ inch blade, but 6 ½. It makes finding blades a little tough. A little history about adding the extra...

    Overflow Box Silencer

I’ve got to agree with malulu….durso style standpipe. We put the durso style standpipe right into the overflow. You don’t even need to glue it up. You can just friction fit the couple pieces together and you’re good to go. Just rests in there…not threaded in…and really quieted it down. Here’s...

    Dream Tank - 4000 Gallons

Wow, the naysayers are plentiful! As far as I can tell the owner hasn’t lifter a finger on this build, short of selling somewhere in the area of 300 – 400 thousand dollars worth of car. This build is being done by a professional company. The person responding to Monster is one of the builders...

    Dream Tank - 4000 Gallons

I’ve been following this build over on MonsterFishKeepers for the past six months. The owner lives in NY and sold his Ferrari 430 and Lamborghini Gallardo to fund the build…and fit the setup in his garage. It is 4000 gallons and the tank goes from floor to ceiling. Note, the corals are all...

    Stand Help?

NO! Actually, with the stand being four foot, you could have used a 2 x 4 as a top brace.  You are overbuilt right now.  Looks good! You might want to put one center stretcher between the two top rails...even thought they are 2x6, you could just use 2x4...unless you are going to add a plywood top.

I remember Crusader Rabbit, Speed Racer and……AstroBoy. I liked when he walked. He made this blooop, bloooop, bloooop sound when he walked.
