Alk has been in the 7.1 to 7.7 range. I have been increasing the dosage. I dose similar amount of calc (a little less) as Alk. The few times I check calc was about 400. I check Alk almost daily. I have not add any new coral to the tank for at least 1 month now.
I wonder if it would eventually...
Mag is 1100. Have not tested for a long time. So it's low. Used to get 1500+. But I doubt it's the reason. Spreading out from one point like a virus. Coraline on the rocks is ok.
Have you seen this before? Water parameter is good and corals are doing good. Started from the center then spreading for about 5 days now. At the spreading edge there is some mucus.
Paul - the bulkhead already has a seal on one side but the other side is just plastic. I was careful to tighten then usually but I wasn't thinking this morning. Anyways I lost my confidence in this and will use a 20g instead.
Try to reduce the head by setting up the sump higher. My setup has 10 ft head and only use about 50 watts.
And agree with the flexible PVC much easier to run and fewer 90 degree elbows means less head loss.
Need to clear the frag rack. All frags are very encrusted unless otherwise noted.

I need to drill a hole for 1 inch bulkhead in a 10g tank and my first attemp failed. The glass cracked when it was drilled. Bought another tank and taped the drill area and this time it was perfect. Now I am a little worried that the thin glass of a 10g tank cannot handle the water pressure long...
In that case it's a tie. The two choices offer almost the same footprint. So it comes down to which looks better aesthetically. IMO the cube is nicer.
When I was looking at the 120g for my upgrade the overflow was on the wrong side. Cube would not have this problem. With a 18" front to back the...
Whenever I travel local food and aquarium are on the top of my list to do. I have been to
Adventure Aquarium
Jenkinson's Aquarium Point Pleasant
Brooklyn Aquarium
Aquarium of Niagara
Georgia Aquarium - we had to take a detour due to Hurricane Irene. So we ended up in Atlanta and visited...
I have been trying Kalk in my own experiement and it's easy to apply and harmless. You can use a turkey baster to remove the Kalk so it won't cause a big alk swing. However the first pass won't kill them all most likely you would need a few more passes.
I do have a patch in the back of the...
Running ALK off PH? This is the first time I heard someone doing this. Can't imagine this will actually work. Do you have this running for a while now?
