    Pods

I like tisbe pods, very easy to culture and Hardy, are small and hide well . I got them off eBay. Threw them in a 2 gallon container and cultured a few generations into my tank. My mandarin now eats pellets and I feed live brine all the time so I typically now just throw whatever in once or...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Your brine shrimp feeder gave me the confidence to get a mandarin. I've been working on a design that's L shaped and traps air at the top and has a feeding screen on the end of the L. That way I can just load the thing with eggs, and lower it in my tank to the sand with a magnet mount. The eggs...

    Copepod explosion

Dosing live phyto helps feed them, but you'll never get rid of them, even if you wanted to. And if you do. They are very easy to culture. And if you get tisbe pods they can be cultured using old fish food. So basically, don't worry about them, they'll take care of themselves, if you want to...

    Live rock vs dry rock

#1 tank breakdown rock. Before I knew better I got a 150 with the live rock from a downgrade tank. Had no idea what I had at the time. Great rock, no pests. All my dry rock started tanks were prone to plagues . First tank was live rock and Petco rock. Lots of pests but I never kept coral so I...

    Par Meter??

I took a similar lux meter and vacuum sealed it so I could put it in my water and get an idea of what par is where more precisely because of depth and shadowing. Lots of research basically landed on dividing it by 40 or 60 I did both and that will give a pretty accurate range of par. I...

    Tank Clarity

Just make sure you rinse it. Excited to see if it works in another tank as well as it did mine. Works well for freshwater too. A friend of mine turned me on to it that does fresh water.
