Not sure if you all heard but it's all over the news about a school in CT where a guy walked in and shot and killed close to 30 people...most of them being young children. Awful just awful.
Shooter is tentatively identified as a ryan lanza...there is also a report saying his mom was a teacher...
Well I have good news and really bad news.
GOOD NEWS: the nem survived and grew back all its tentacles (shorter and lighter).
BAD NEWS: it walked into my tunze last night...
Removing skimmate is pretty nasty stuff. Taking the remains of a large anemone and trying to separate from a tunze is...
personal preference. I would want my 75 to be clean and situated exactly where i want it when I move. If it's full of rock that is cycling, then I have to unload all of it, then set up the 75 where i want it, and then get the unloaded LR and re-load it into the tank.
At least that's how I see...
option C -get/borrow a large container to cycle the new rock.
Set up 75 on March 1st. Bring now cycled rock to the tank and add in. Add bacteria also if needed and then between 3/1 and 3/30, transfer contents of 90 over. You have a lot of time between now and March for the rock to cycle.
First of all - no idea how i missed this thread.
Second of all that's awful to hear bob - I'm also glad you are safe and uninjured by going to help.
Did the neighbor leave a generator on to power the fridge in the kitchen while they were out?
I can't make that time...i got stuck with being the point person for work until 9pm every day this week. Next week I took off (hence the extra load). When you're ready to move it back in - i guess give me a holler!
transformer blew in my town and parts of it lost power...thankfully we weren't included. I've been without clean water too for the past 48 hrs. I still see lines for gasoline...speaking of which odd number, gotta go out and get some.
no need to move the tank. The smell is gone after two 45~50 gallon of water changes. Thanks for the offer. Right now the big next step waiting for the tank to stabilize and then figuring out how to re-stock.
Of course during this debacle you'd hope that the pain in the rear asterina stars...
i dosed some Erase CL to bond the ammonia. I had picked that up a long time ago in anticipation of helping with the clownfish fry tank. The fish are much more out and about and the hammers are slowly opening up their polyps again. Scoly still is oblivious to it all (thank goodness), but the...
olivier - let me know when and i will do my best to come over and help.
trust me in this debacle, being there for the event may not have helped. It was just utter chaos and frustration. I lost almost all my corals but was able to save all but one fish (achilles...).
thanks everyone. I just did another 50 gallon water change between conference calls. I was at the office all last week while the building was on generator power so I figured I could take a day to work from home today.
I am pretty sure I siphoned out bits of snails and anemone. Tossed out...
Mark - good to hear you are ok. So sorry about the house. Is FEMA at least helping with alternate housing?
I'm listening to the news say that you are supposed to keep the generator '20 feet' from the house. If I did that it would be that much closer for some jerk to load into his/her car...
great idea...the SH are crazy about sitting in front of the pump for flow. They will even grasp the floss and then thrust their face into the pump. The idea that you need low flow is some kind of internet rumor. They do need flow slowed down when they eat, but otherwise they like living in the...
I can finally see the back of the tank through the cloudiness. The stink is still there and the skimmer is pulling out indescribable stink.
I had to remove the entire rock the nem was on - at least what was left of the nem. Little fluorescent red bits of what were the tentacles were floating...
