Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
dang i am a moron. :-X I saw the thread and thought it might help you...didn't realize it's like from years ago and they guy didn't put a hole in the cap! lol.
Sorry about that.
i used an ev 120 for my 55 - worked great. My only complaints are:
takes time to break in
is sensitive (as in, put your hand in the water a lot without gloves and it will stop foaming)
collection cup is small (not a big deal, just connect some flex hose to the hole and dump the excess into...
all crabs are omnivorous. As dr. ron shimek likes to say - if you had the opportunity of eating seaweed or seafood buffet - which would you pick? the crab is picking the seafood buffet. ;)
your choices are:
reduce lighting/nutrients in the tank OR increase cleanup crew.
Reduced nutrients =...
sea horse would be like a dream come true for us - wife/kids love them. But i would probably need to invest in a chiller in the summer and while that is not difficult - the feeding frequency seems daunting to me.
What does one do when going away on extended vacation? Do you just let them go...
matt-minor feedback - the pic and scientific name of the clown is for a percula - not an occelaris. Obviously they are pretty much one and the same but didn't know if it was necessary to note on your tankmates page the other scientific name.
I was thinking also though that if you mix species -...
aren't there still flatworms in there? at least - i think I see several in this last pic...
also the stringy stuff - could it be like vermetid snails leftover mucus? I have on experience with FWE in the display so not sure if they'd even live thru that.
Check the end caps - make sure they are tight and secure.
Then check and make sure the bulbs fit snugly in the endcaps.
Finally make sure the wires connecting the endcaps are connected properly to the ballast.
Could've been that during the move that one of the wires came loose from the end cap.
follow up on dave's comments...the return section does look low in that last pic.
How are you doing top-offs? If you set a auto-top-off so that the return never runs that low - then maybe that will solve the microbubble issue?
I don't know why you'd have saltspray on the locline - that stuff...
no that can't be it. I built my dursos per the website and the cap is flush with the overflow...so that makes the drain a good few inches lower than that water line of the display tank.
The hole sounds too small to me.
unfortunately napoli's didn't make it...he just didn't have enough time. I know he tried to move them to someone who did have time but I guess it was too late.
just wait for matt to chime in. He was the guy who managed the table with the sea horses at the fragswap.
