    Floor reinforcement ?'s

Someone spent too much time in front of the TV, or either is the proud owner of The Official Batman Onomatopoeia Dictionary. Have we hijacked this thread long enough, or should we keep on going? 12 inch joists with a 90 gallon tank running perpendicular to said joists, with said tank...

    Floor reinforcement ?'s

Yea, but his wife would be questioning the presence of a pre-pubescent teen hanging around the house in a Robin outfit constantly saying, “Golly gee wiz Batman,” and Alfred, the English butler, incessantly feather-dusting that darn bookshelf.

jbj 150 hqi hood with led moonlights

Any JBJ 24 or 28 hood, with either HQI, compact fluorescents or LEDs are interchangeable, and will fit both the 24 and 28 gallon tanks.. Note that the HQI puts out the heat and you will need a chiller.

    diy 180 and 120 sump

As Bax pointed out, determine the necessary basics first…..skimmer size and location (and make sure, if internal, you have the space under the stand so that it will fit); and also the return pump…internal and external. The next consideration is your plumbing. Decide if you want to split off...

Need Identification of this algae and how to eradicate it

I’ve never had the problem, but I would begin with housekeeping….get the nitrates and phosphates as low as possible. …..Multiple water changes, heavy skimming, using a phosphate remover, etc. Hopefully others will chime in who have direct experience. I know some have used very high magnesium...

Need Identification of this algae and how to eradicate it

Need a better picture….but through the fuzziness, my first guess would be bryopsis. HERE’s a link to the different algae we may see.

    Happy Father's Day

Happy Father’s Day everyone! As I finish up making my own breakfast, the comparison I heard of Mother’s Day to Father’s Day begins to sink in. On Mother’s Day, we get up and fix her breakfast, wait on her all day while she sits on her thrown, and finish up the day taking her out to dinner...

    RODI Pump

+1 Good stuff Brian….I think my pea-brain is starting to understand, but it hurts. So those of use who run their RO/DI water directly into a drum/bottle/bucket, these pumps would do nothing for us. However, if you have an RO/(DI) unit that also uses a pressurized holding tank, this pump...

    RODI Pump

First time I’ve heard about them. I’m still scratching my noggin on this one. I don’t understand how it works??? I’ve read this a couple times, and still don’t understand it: "Powered only by the hydraulic energy of brine water usually lost to the drain (i.e. no electricity required)...

    Cat Copter

When I first saw the title, I’m thinking another example of animal abuse. But after seeing and reading this, I too had a good laugh. I think the guy is a bit sick, but it still is funny…and there was no abuse (of a live animal.)

    Any Firearms enthusiasts??

Anthony is correct, old M1’s are considered assault rifles and are totally illegal in New Jersey….can’t own or register. Interestingly our local VFW uses them in all our parades, shooting off blanks.

    Concept Rower

Also look at "Play it Again Sports." I used them when my kids were outgrowing skiing equipment every year. I remember seeing a whole bunch of "cloths hangers" in their stores.

    looking to buy a RO/DI unit..questions

I’m not familiar with a 24gpd filter, but I’d look at the ejection efficiency. When I purchased mine, the 75 gpd membrane was the most efficient….98% ejection. Also realize that you’ll want a DI unit as well. I wouldn’t skimp here…..For the few extra bucks, I’d look at a 75 gpd membraine...

    DIY Aquarium Stand

Here’s RC’s plan. With a four foot tank, you can use 2 x 4’s all the way around. Then you skin the stand in whatever you want.

    75 or 90 gal upgrade

You’ll be giving up some major real estate with the RR…..GO GLASS-HOLES, ALL THE WAY! I’d spend the few extra bucks and get the 1500. You won’t be sorry….unless you like looking at a big wad of plastic.

    tang

You’ve heard it….algae sheets…..every day. I actually buy the “sushi” algae at my local oriental supermarket. I get about 25 large sheets for $3.99. I feed daily, half a sheet. Here’s what I do: I first cut the sheets into quarters using either a paper cutter (which I no longer have) or...

    Red bugs in the nano

Boy, I almost think I need to go looking for legal representation with what you have said! Do you know a good lawyer? :) Or maybe I need to preface my comments with a disclaimer. Here’s the poop: I don’t know the stability of the drug (milbemycin oxime). However, it is used in...

    Red bugs in the nano

Why not take a ¼ pill and smash it up (ideally in a mortar and pestle), and now dissolve it in a volume of water. Now take a third of that water and dose your tank. This would be more accurate, unless you had a scale that measured into the microgram range. As an example, you dissolve a...
