oh ok, i was just wondering since most of the accounts ive been reading that used GE II successfully were people who let there silicone cure for a good period of time. its been noted by others that GE II when it cures, produces ammonia. I am not sure if you tested your tank for ammonia when your...
yeah, I know. not the best kit but it's what I had laying around for ammonia. (I never thought it would be an issue after my tank cycled) I'll pick up a salifert kit tomorrow.
I am not 100% convinced it's the silicone either, like I keep saying. I am just freaking out. I mean, if it was the...
I've used it in past projects as well, so far resealed a 40 gallon and used it on 3 different sumps, this being the 4th. I also let this sump cure for 2 weeks before I water tested it. I always picked up GE II. I don't know. I am just freaking out. for lack of a better term, I am panicking. The...
I've read more and more about GE Silicone II and I am just slowly dying inside. is there anyone that will be willing to hold on to some coral for me till I get this issued fixed?? I will be more then happy to frag out what I can when my sps or what ever I have grows out. (I only have frags right...
I am showing signs of ammonia in the system .3 or .6, my test kit is a hagen kit for ammonia so I really cant tell between the two colors. I suspect a mini-cycle. Hopefully this is the reason why my corals are pissed off and not due to the silicone I used. Livestock as far as fish and shrimp are...
hopefully, that isn't the case. its been over 24 hours and all livestock regarding fish and shrimp seem ok, no mysterious deaths or odd behavior. hopefully that is still the case when i get home tonight. i am hoping this is just a mini cycle and nothing else.
I am going to shoot myself in the foot if this was the case. I don't get it though, ive used the GE Silicone II before on the sump I used previously without ill effects. That was the reason why I went with II. I really hope it is just a mini cycle and not the silicone. I even let it cure for 2...
I also, put in a new cone skimmer, I also gave that a vinegar bath prior. Do you guys think I am going through a mini-cycle. I havent tested my ammonia levels, it didnt occur to me to check. I will check it when I get home from work. I will also buy a bottle of special blend to add some bacteria...
Well, I added 2 koralia, 1050 and a 750 for additional flow. I gave a vinegar bath to my durso drain, return line, return pump. I also created a manifold so I can just run all my reactors through my return pump. Maybe I am having the same issues? how long did it take for your tank to go back to...
parameters were all the same except for my calc and alk, alk was at 9 and cal was 440. and yes, my old sump did have a fuge with a deep sandbed and live rock. My current one has one too, minus the deep sand bed. I went from a 30 gallon long to a 20 gallon long to save some space under the stand.
Hey guys, here is the story. I made the move to a new sump last night and everything went great. However, for some reason when I got home from work today, all my LPS and Softies looked pissed off. My torch and frog spawn looked weak, my trumpet look dried up, my devil's hand looked shriveled...
