    Switch refugium light

I use a 2700k CFL 15W on my 20g refugium. Works well for me. The growth of the macro algae is limited by nutrient not by lighting. But in the high nutrient system it maybe different.

Starting new after move and question on setting up quarantine system

Like @Mark_C I don't QT either. And I am a sucker for difficult to keep fish too. I have loses but mostly new fish that are added and these are difficult fish to start with. My fish get ick but ick disappears after a while so I know all my existing fish are immune to the parasite. I would say my...

    DSA 135....

Since you do not have a lot or corals yet If I were you I would take all the rocks out and treat with muriatic acid, much easier and less time consuming. You will have tons of organic material to deal with even if the tech m treatment is successful.

    Feeding tang nori?

This works better than most. It takes a while for the fish to get use to it, like a week. It lasts a good ten minutes for my tangs and melanarus wrasse to go thru a 2" x 1" piece.

    Amino acid dosing, useless?

Assuming you're not running an ultra low nutrient system, do you find it to be waste of money? Tried Acropower and ME amino, didn't notice any change. And the nutrient in my tank is fairly low too.

LED vs T5s - math question

You will need 5 or 6 radions you're looking at $4k. And of course you will run more electricity. I have the ATI hybrid for 2 years now. I would buy the same light again. An 8 bulb fixture with 4 LED clusters cost $2400. Each cluster is equivalent to one radion xr15. You are getting the best of...

    Water Changes

Agree on what everyone else suggested. If you do some kind of carbon dosing you do not need to change water too much. I change only 5% of the total volumn a week.

    Doooomed! I warn ya! Doooomed!

I've been wondering how high the temperature sps can handle, now I know, less than 82.7 degrees. I do have to keep the a/c on even when we are not home so jcp&l loves me too. I have a nice sized green slimer when you're ready. Let me know when you're in my area.

    What is your dream fish?

I am aiming low and only want a pair of Multibars, the poor man's peppermint. I have already killed one. But I am waiting for the right opportunity to try again.

    DI Bypass valve

I was thinking about how the membrane flush kit works. When the flush is on the flow to the DI resin is significantly reduced. So I guess there is no need to install a bypass valve if you already have the flush kit installed.

    DI Bypass valve

My BRS 6-stage unit has a membrane flush kit installed, between the membrane and the DI resin. This flushes the membrane when open and also reduce the amount of the water going to the DI stage. Membrane Flush Kit Installation Instructions - Bulk Reef Supply My unit also has the 3-way bypass...

    GFCI question

Depending on how your GFCI outlets are wired. You can have two GFCI wired independently (in the same circuit) then they will trip independently. But as Paul mentioned if you wire an outlet off the load terminal of a GFCI outlet it will lose power when the GFCI is tripped. GFCI is for preventing...
