Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Easy answer, 100% without a doubt yes. Our Sps have better color and growth and our LPS looks a lot happier. There was an adjustment time, but we seem to have everything dialed in pretty well now. I liked my last lights a lot, but IMO I just like T5s. Happy to have the best of both worlds.
Paul yes the ban would include and captive bred clowns as well. Thy are also talking about banning all species of a coral if only one group is in trouble. For example if one type I acropora is banned, they ban all acropora. That includes importation and interstate transfer.
I have the 5 foot 8 bulb fixture and love it. My electric bill did go up but it is hard to judge in the summer time when air conditioning factors in. Also I run my leds at 30% and the T5s at 60%, but you can obviously change that if you are worried about electricity. Geismann is coming out...
I have had the Reef Octopus XP5000 external and have had no issues with it. I know havingt the skimmer makes it easier, but something you might want to look into. Glad to hear things are coming along.
Best LED's is like trying to answer the best salt question, there is no right answer and you will get a bunch of them.
As jgraz said above, what current LEDs do you have and what was your system like? If your water params are off, I don't care what LEDs you have, you will not be able to keep SPS.
Sorry to go all Billy Mays on you guys but this is really important. Our hobby is under attack and there are groups and legislation being looked at right now that would shut our hobby down. Please read the links below and donate if you can. Even if you cannot donate, pass the word around and...
Wanted to tack on, you guys are spoiled for our swap. The vendors all looked amazing and the speakers are going to be top notch. Our frag swap is going to be a mini MACNA.
I said I would post up a quick review when I had the time so here goes.
I am just a hobbyist so my review is from that perspective, this is the third MACNA I have been too and have helped plan one and have run frag swaps for the past five years so I know a little bit of the planning side...
Pics from MACNA, they were not for sale. From what I was told, they will be for sale next. year. As you can see they had them in this little container at the surface of the water so it was easy to take pics (just my cellphone). Pretty cool, but I was more impressed with the F2 lightning maroons.
They are real, I have some pics of it I will post when I get home. Thy are interesting. The captive raised personatus angel was the real star of the show. Really fun event, be excited for our swap, a lot of vendors are bringing heat
