i dont know much.. but i think that maybe since the light is exposed as you say it is, it may be causing the corals to be getting too much light.. i would look into replacing the missing piece, and fast just in case that is the issue.. you wouldn't want to lose anything.. again i dont know much...
your tank looks really nice.. i dont know much about taking care of algae but i do know that it is all part of the process.. my boyfriends the saltwater tank know-it-all and unfortunately he's at work.. when i was having some algae issues i know that he had me dose my 12 gallon with algaefix...
a couple more things added..
i tried to add a clown fish to my tank from my boyfriends 120g but we couldn't catch his pair and he is miserable without him.. looks like its time to give him back =[..
hopefully i buy a brand new fish this weekend!
My boyfriends family is very very into hockey, so of course i got into it.. the game was amazing i must say.. i am happy for both of them to have made history in one night..
Without a picture, I'm guessing it's the same thing that happened in my boyfriends tank.. after a week or two they were back to normal and apparently spread to new places in the tank.. If you put up a picture I can tell you for sure if it is the real thing or not
We have to put the tank on a short hold because my boyfriend has decided to make his 120 gallon all SPS and wants me to take all the softies.. so i have to wait until he's ready to do the big switch..
I'm happy to hear that your cat is back and safe.. Last year my cat had gotten out and we couldn't find him for two weeks.. Turns out he got caught in our shed and since it was winter, no body realized it.. Thankfully he came out perfectly fine, just lost a few pounds..
