I don't foresee the chaeto clogging it but the fuge light may cause some nuisance algae on the reefmat. Perhaps moving it closer to the wall and somehow blocking the light from directly hitting the reefmat might help.

I used reef flux last year when I was battling GHA for months and couldn’t beat it with manual removal and large water changes. I combined reef flux with adding a ATS to the system and I was algae free within a few weeks. I feel your pain but don’t give up. Good luck!

Yes my sailfin tang. He bullied 2 yellow tangs to death last year and this year I tried an orange shoulder tang and PBT a few months ago and he bullied them as well. Any other fish I add is fine just not tangs.

I’ve had tremendous success with peppermint shrimp if you want to try an easier route.
