Howdy folks, wondered if anyone could help me ID a tank.
It's a center overflow 100 gal flat back hex. Back of the tank is black and it's all 3/8 inch acrylic. There are no manufacturers markings anywhere on it.
Seems to me it should be 1/2 inch. Think that would cause any problems down the...
Natural Reef Aquariums by John Tullock. It was my first book on reef aquariums and I can't recommend it enough. Here's a link; it's $12 on Amazon.com.

If it's an internal overflow, you could add a perforated standpipe to the drain hole. I don't know if this cuts down on flow. Anyone know more about these? I'm still in the build process, myself.
I'm in Clifton. Looks like another $20 in fuel over the weekend. Maybe I'll call those boneheads and see if I can get a SKU. It might be at one around here.
I appreciate the offer, though. Nice of you to offer.
Thanks for the info!
Didn't quite know where to post this, so here it is. Absolutely Fish in Clifton is having a reef tank discussion group tmrw 20 Apr 06 @ 7:00 PM.
Thought I'd share that if anyone wanted to make the scene.
Thanks for the follow-up. I was curious about it for a long time. Figured any local sand would be the pits, but I may fill a few buckets off a dock somewhere.
I remember reading in Tullock's book Natural Reef Aquariums that local live sand and sea water is a good addition in limited quantities.
Anyone have any experience with Garden State water or steal a few pounds of sand?
Cool, heaven. I'm trying to get a 100 gal acrylic off the ground and DIY'ing the hood and stand.
Also in the middle of an acrylic sump, which is tougher working with than I would've thought.
I figure I'll be ready for a wet test sometime in '07.
I'm interested, albeit a newbie. Looking at two MH bulbs, one 400w one 175w. Roughly $125? If anyone can let me know when this is happening via e-mail (bigben1967@optonline.net), I'm definately in.
Thank you much!
Anyone know where I can get a diagram for a closed loop system? Just bought a used 100 gal acrylic with a center overflow that's drilled for one. I have no idea how they funciton.
Thanks!
