Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Less expensive than a used 72" Giesemann Infiniti Light Fixture with 3x250W HQI for the equivalent of 400MH (when at full power).
My full cost was about $2300. That was for 1 master and 2 slave units with 120-1w led's in each unit. I'm not sure if that intro pricing is still available but I can...

Garlic is an antioxidant (health buzzword of the last 5 years). There is still only anecdotal evidence that it helps in marine aquariums. Human studies show some small effects. However, it's quite hard to find garlic in the ocean, so it's not readily available to fish in their diet.
My fish...
Sounds like a personal question :D
Lighting is somewhat subjective. There really is no place to go to see a side by side comparison. MH may raise the temp of the tank a bit, but a fan takes care of that. T4 in a 4 bulb configuration may not allow for as wide a choice of corals. A six bulb...

Most of farm sites sell the full length disposable gloves (meant for cows). Do not use gloves with powder! At the least buy a box uf unpowdered latex or vinyl gloves. They're about $7 - $8 at the local pharmacy (WalMart, Walgreens, CVS, etc.).
I don't use the full arm ones sold for tanks...
So is my price too high to even solicit an offer or is it that no one needs a 72: fixture?
If it's the price, what would be a fair price for the fixture with all brand new (in the box) bulbs?
Your tank is deeper than my 125, but with the same fixture and 10k MH my clam has grown quite nicely sitting on the sand bed.
I used a "standard" lighting schedule of 12 hours for the PC, 10 hours for MH (1 hour dawn/1 hour dusk).
I recently switched to LED's.
I'm selling my MH fixture now so...
I got the ETC 2 stage controller. You can get it pre-wired or save a few bucks and wire it yourself. Pretty easy to do. For those that only want 1 heater (or two with the same set points) you can use the 1100 series.
I originally got the 2 stage to control 2 heaters on 1 control and the fan on...
Interesting that your digital is reading lower than your mercury. I just posted the following on a heaters thread...
I'm currently waiting for an inspection at work to end so our metrology deparment can tell me whether my digital or my mercury thermometers are correct. Two digital thermometers...
I had considered a DIY LED light project for my 6' 125, but after looking at all the posts, links, gathering information, designing several different ways to put it all together I ended buying the PacifcSun 120 BT-EX units. These units have 120 1w-LEDS per fixture and the master is controlled...
If you look around their website you'll find the info posted. Walt told me years ago he recommends a
10 micron sediment filter followed by a
5 microm carbon filter followed by a
1 microm carbon filter followed by the RO membrane with the DI to polish it all off.
This is just a logical order...
