Unfortunately, my tank crashed during the october blizzard and never recovered. Literally everything died except for my poor Nemo. Even his mate and home died. Now he is swimming all alone with a few snails and i feel bad for him. I dont have the energy,or money for that matter, to try and...
I use 4 stage lights on my nano. I have a dawn, morning light, "high noon" light, afternoon light, dusk, and nighttime.
8am 65w dual antinic on/ moon off
9am 65w sunpaq on
10am 150w 14k MH on/sunpaq off
6pm MH off/sunpaq on
8pm sunpaq off
10pm antinic off/ moon on
As you can see, my antinics...
I handwash them inside out and then boil um in RO/DI (no salt) for about 5 min. The discoloration of the sox is irrelevant to me, I never see the thing. Sanatizing for me is done with the boiling + the hyposaline.
I think clams are a lot more durable then we give them credit for. I had a maxima under PCs for over a year and had considerable growth. Unfortunately, it died from the stress of a crashed tank and a tank swap.
TheGuyFromNJ: Sorry, my misunderstanding. I don't use discs for just that reason. The easiest way I have found is putty over opposite sides of the disc. Kind of like the setting used to hold a diamond in a ring. I putty from the top of the disc over the sides then really smoosh it into the rock...
I use plain old gel superglue for SPS. Use a 1/4" drill bit to make a divit in the plug/rubble, fill the hole a bit with glue, go around the edge to seal the crack and then place in salt water. The water will cure the glue rather quickly.
If that gives me trouble, i still glue in place, but...
I would say no smaller then a dime for size? As far as repair for the mother piece, it will heal the open wound up in a couple of weeks but the overall shape will be altered a bit for quite a while. Take your frags from the backside/less visible area of the mother piece. I would cut a section...
Actually, the reason pistol shrimp have their pistol is to catch food. "The shrimp snaps a specialized claw shut to create a cavitation wave that generates acoustic pressures of up to 80 kPa at a distance of 4 cm from the claw. The pressure wave is strong enough to kill small fish." (quoted from...
I just kalk drip overnight, every night. Much cheaper and parameters are always stable. The new pod has been up for 3 months now and even the Marco rock is turning purple.
I use all cotton thread to sew the soft frags to a piece of rubble. It takes about 4 weeks for the thread to disintergrate and in most cases, the frag is well attached by then.
One thing I have learned about Ich is that it is also temperature sensitive. Once Ich attaches itself to a fish, it takes roughly 2 weeks <in fresh water> before it is ready for the next stage of development. In salt water however, the water temp is kept at a higher level and the ich can mature...
I have false percs as well. I introduced my 2nd one about 6 months after my first one and they hooked up in less then an hour. I hope you have as much luck as I did.
Clowns are hermaphroditic, they all start out as males. As long as you buy a juvinile, you could possibly pair them off. The type of clown will also play a role in the deciding factors. Usually the more aggressive ones like maroons are more difficult then say true/false percs. Sorry for your...
This whole idea of vitamin C does have some merit. In the human body, the main function of vitamin C is involved with the synthesis of collagen fibers. Osteoblasts, bone-making cells, use vitamin C to product collagen. They then create a web-like structure with the collagen fibers that calcium...
I had the Yellow, AKA Chiquita in my 15 gal. for almost a year. She hasn't grown any noticable size in the 1.5 years iv'e had her. I know they can get big, up to 8-9" I believe. Ill have to upgrade my tank if she has a growth spurt, way too much personality. We call her the "hall monitor". She...
