Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Actually there are quite a few wooden roller coaster, although the Cyclone is the most famous. See this like for some of the others - America’s 12 Oldest Roller Coasters Still in Operation – Coaster Nation As for Palisades Park, I never got there, but I remember it because Superman comic books...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

It's been a long tome since I visited Coney Island. Even now it's got some of that ol time brach and ammusemsnt park feeling. Definitely worth seeing if your in the area. I would have loved to see it in it's prime when the parachute jump was working. It must have been glorious.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Hi Paul, You are really between a rock and a hard place on this one. going from windows 7 to windows 11 is not a simple upgrade. Here are some items to look out for. 1. The boot process is most likely completely different. This means you just can't install windows 7 on the new machine and run...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

This got me thinking. I don't thing there are any 50 yr old LFS in my area anymore. We did have a few, but they are long gone. There are still a few in your neck of the woods, but they seem to be getting rare. Between the large chain stores and online shopping, most LFS have been takeing a...

Build a Diatom Filter for under $100.00

Hi Paul, Glad to see you have worked out a diatom filter replacement. Mine is still working, but it's getting temperamental and a pain to use. I plan to replace it using an Ocean Clean canister filter with a similar cartridge, and an Iwaki pump I already have. I've not done it yet because, well...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

As another older reef keeper, I have a few observations I'd like to add. Over the years I've had some rare or unusual livestock. Outside of a forum like this or the occasional other reef keeper that sees my tank in person, few have little idea about anything you have in your tank and are just...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Considering the work you did on the tank, it looks great. A little time and it will look as good as ever. My own tank looks like an algae farm, and it's going to need some major work on it soon. As for diatom filters, I still have and use mine. Since they are no longer being made I'm in the...

When you live by the ocean it's amazing how the weathering gives everything a such a nice appearance.

Great photos. I especially like the contrast you got in the winter landscape. The light and dark areas work out good also. Really shows what can be done in winter photos even without the leaves on trees and so on.

When I first saw that picture, I thought maybe you got some new corals or live rock. Maybe christmas tree worm rock? In any case, I'm sure they tasted fine.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Hi Paul, At least when all was said and done you ended up with a working phone. That's doing a lot better than some people. Yes, these new phones have so many fetures that I don't even know what most of them are, even with my older iPhone 7. I think I'm going to need to replace it in the not...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I see pictures like that and I just can't help feel that it's great to be alive. In your other picturers, I see that your grandchildren are now old enough to help you do a lot of work on your tank and such. (grin)

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

HI Paul, Sorry to hear about your back. I had some comparatively minor back issues years ago and they are not fun at all. That ageing stuff is just something we can't do too much about over time. I've had a couple of medical issues over the last couple of years, and my tanks have been neglected...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I find this a bit unusual coming from you, Paul, considering your own tank has all those glass bottles in it. After all, if you can expect to find glass bottles in the ocean and fish make homes in then, it would seem quite possible to find PVC pipe and fittings in the ocean and fish making homes...

    Tanked for a good cause

After having used a CPR overflow, I find that I can not say enough bad things about it. These overflows have several major design flaws and will sooner or later cause a flood. First off, the siphon tends to trap air and fail. To prevent this they must be used with an aqualifter or similar pump...

    Lower dose Chemiclean

Nitrate and phosphate readings can be low and you can still have massive algae issues, because the algae is consuming the nitrate and phosphate and growing. If you have not previously used them, consider using one of the phosphate removing compounds such as GFO.

    Lower dose Chemiclean

You can use Chemiclean if you want. It does work as far as getting rid of cyano goes. However, the cyano is not going away on it's own. This tells me that you have some other problems that is causing this. Unless you fix the other problem or problems first, all you do is kill off the cyano and...

    Apex

More to the point, what is the controller doing or failing to do? What do you want the controller to do? Usually this is more a question of fixing one small problem at a time, rather than trying to do everything at once. Also, some things on some controllers are just not possible to do without...

    AI Prime HD light

I like the red and green levels because I like the more even spectrum. I think you get a much more natural looking tank. Now I will tell you that I like the color temp of the tank to be only about 10000K to about 12000k or so. I feel that a higher color temp is just too blue and looks very...

    AI Prime HD light

I'm using AI Hydra 52's on my 125 gal reef. The control is similar. I run them for 8 hours a day with a 1 hour ramp up and 1 hour ramp down. I run all the LED colors at 80% of max. The thing your going to find out is that every reef is different, so even if you like the way I'm doing it, it...
