I think those night crawlers hear you coming and run or hide, they know you hunting them is much more deadly than any bird. Hope you can get some help with the gas valve. I find home repair projects take me a lot longer. What use to take a few hours now seems to take days.

What kind of lighting are you talking about? Some like metal halides, VHO or compact florescents can often be repaired with off the shelf parts. LED lighting is very dependent upon what parts are available from the manufacturer, with many using parts that are proprietary or just not obtainable.

Table base? Have you seen the prices for driftwood for use in FW planted aquariums? You'd likely make a lot more selling it as is. (grin) I though reef systems were expensive till I saw some of the prices for planted aquarium substrata, rocks and driftwood.

What part of the Jersey shore are you interested in getting to? It's a big difference if it's Cape May verses Asbury Park. Considering where you live, you might make better time going by boat (grin).
