Adding more live sand to an established tank????

I have a 120 gallon mixed reef and last week I pulled the sand out of my fuge to replace it with Fiji Mud... I want to add live sand to another side compartment so I am wondering if it is ok to add another small bag of live sand to the sump... Someone told me that my tank could go through another cycle if I do this so I am just wondering what everyone thinks... As far as I know its not an issue...

it shouldnt really do anything.. if the main tank is established already i bet you will hardly even notice any difference. the sand, if used before the expiration date is usually pretty good

Why add live sand? You can just as easily add dry sand and let it become live.

An easy way to add sand to an existing system without making a huge mess is to use a length of 4 inch diameter PVC pipe that is slightly taller than the tank. Stand the pipe up in the tank with the end resting on the bottom glass. Pour the sand into the pipe then slowly lift the pipe this will allow the sand to slowly seep out around the bottom of the pipe and keep it some what neat. If doing a large area move the pipe over slightly and repeat until the area is covered.
