Amphipods vs Copepods

Although I've had populations of copepods in my DT and sump, they have never seemed to last long. From what I've read they need lower salinization and temps than the normal reef tank- Apex seems to be the exception. I've always had some amphipods that came in as hitchhikers on live rock. I don't keep mandarins or seahorses. I'm wondering if I'm better off buying a bunch of amphipods to get established in my refugium/sump vs buying copepods on a regular basis

I guess it depends why you want them in your tank. If it is to feed your fish/corals then you have to look at their size. Large size fish could eat the amphipods while the corals and smaller fish would consume the copepods. The amphipods are a great cuc and they will eat copepods.
